Slugs ganging up at my back door.

While I never got an answer to my enquiry on this thread I did solve my problem. In the OP I said I was going to install mesh grilles over the air bricks under the conservatory. I did so, purchasing one of the type shown here http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=mouse+mesh&!!!!!googhydr-21&index=aps&hvadid=23544086552&hvpos=1t2&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1364379441293703921&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=e&hvdev=c&ref=pd_sl_8q892f53o_e
I kept an eye on things and I could see the slugs still gathering every night, I could also see the ones trapped inside the grilles, confirming my suspicions that they were under the conservatory.
A few weeks ago they appeared to be gone but I stayed quiet in case they came back. Over the last 24 hours it's been teeming with rain so I went out just now with a torch and there isn't a slug in sight.
So I was right to think as I did and I was right to install mesh grilles. If anyone else ever has the same problems you'll know what to do now.
