Hi
For a few years now I've had insane itching on the back of my head only. I have no dandruff, wash my hair about 3-4 times a week and I've tried various shampoos and conditioners.
Everything people recommend to me is insanely expensive or used for dandruff which i dont have.
Anyone have any cheap recommendations? Considering it happens on the back of my scalp only too. On a budget here

If you had it years, maybe a prescription off your doc? (Though not cheap if you don't get them free!)0

Have you tried TGel shampoo?0

Do you use hairspray at all? I used a whole bottle of TGel before I realised that the problem wasn't with my scalp at all, but what I was spraying on it.0

I have an itchy scalp and I use body shop ginger shampoo which has improved it. Then I use coconut oil weekly and massage it into my scalp and leave it for a few hours or overnight and generally I don't itch from doing the above.0

Had this problem too, eventually I realised I had the hairdryer way too hot.0

Is it stress related? Might be worth getting the doc to take a look at it.
As for shampoo, the Vosene sensitive frequent wash is supposed to be good and only costs about £2-3. (You can use it even though you don't have dandruff.)0 -
+1 for Neutrogena T Gel shampoo - cheapest (I think) at Costco but supermarkets carry it too.0

I'm the same, I'm always paranoid I've got nits from the kids at school!!!! The best thing I've used is Naked shampoo for sensitive skin/scalp.....smells lovely and is really gentle. I get it in Boots when it's on offer, I think full price is about £4. They do a matching sensitive conditioner too. Lovely stuff, really helped x0

Cheap store branded Tea tree type shampoo is good or if you are using up your normal stuff maybe you could try a little vinegar in the rinsing water.

Have you tried going paraben/sulphate free? I was really sceptical until it got to the point I was making my head bleed from scratching so much... I'm currently using the Naked range from boots. However I understand that their botanics range is paraben free, as is the shampoo from the body shop. L'orel do a range called ever pure that is also free from. Think timotei have a range too, but I've not tried it. Boots also used to do a itchy scalp lotion, but I don't know if it's still around.
I also do a cold rinse after washing my hair and that seems to help ( as does not washing in too hot water)
Also have you considered changing your pillow? I'm just thinking if it's the back of your head, that's obviously where your head would rest on your pillow. My niece had a dreadful allergic reaction to a pillow once, but that was on her face.0
