I have an emergency phone that I keep in the car and need a Vodafone Calls / Text PAYG sim card.

Problem is, unless I have misread their website I have to have data with it as well.

Am I mistaken or are those sim cards no longer available.

I do not want to spend any more money and only want this as an emergency phone - any ideas / help ?

Thanks
Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.

No such creature. The sim card is just how you authenticate to the network, what you use it and the account setup is the key. Just because it can do data does not mean it will or you have to pay for it.

Typically the topped up free offer dies after 30 days, and you'll be left with the credit of the actual top up. So as long as there's some credit on it, it will be fine, you may need to check with Vodafone that they won't auto renew the credit so you end up with a large credit balance on the phone.

You are aware you'll need to make a call at least every 3 months to ensure the number remains active?

I've never heard of any network doing this if there is some credit remaining.

    180 days actually.
