there may be 10 of them - and although it could work out cheaper to paint themselves if they then get paint all over the carpet it may work out cheaper to get someone in... (I have images of me as a drunk student painting a ceiling here - it might not end well)...
at this point I personally would spend the cash on the magic sponge thing - as they will come in handy when they move out anyway, and work it from there...
They are students, and should have the intelligence to be able to emulsion a kitchen ceiling without causing a disaster.0 -

So they cannot get their act together and stay sober for a day?
Not a very good picture you paint of students.0 -

If you are talking about getting someone in to do it, then why? They can paint it themselves - it is easy.0 -
This happened to me too.
The culprit was a smoothie I bought from M&S and forgot I had left it in a carrier bag in my dining room. It exploded and sprayed a wall with purple gunk. I tried all sorts of different things to remove it, but nothing worked, tried to paint over it, but could still see the purple under cream paint. We ended up having to strip the wall.0 -

Sugar soap and then reprint it themselves (might be a good idea to suggest dust sheets from Wilkos or pound shop)
I do find the lack of initiative in students pretty scary on a daily basis (I'm a mature student) . At nineteen I had my own house and just got on with sorting out domestic disasters.........and didn't have Google to ask either.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Just to update this episode. My DS's mate was fined £40 by the accommodation people.
Sainsburys replied to his email and have reimbursed the £40.
