Wow Virgin Seems Now Able To Connect Us!

Lived in a newly build property for three years, a flat but could not get Virgin, despite it being in the area, on the same street (two streets run side by side)
I did some enquiring earlier this year about why they could not supply me, when they could supply the house 10 paces away... Sadly I never got an answer!
Yesterday I got a promotional offer in the post addressed 'To The Householder' saying Virgin was now available, checked the website and they do actually not have my address on there!
Been wanting to ditch Sky for a while, so the question I have is Virgin worth paying the extra for? I don't want sport or movies, but do need the landline, tv box, and BB, wanting fast BB as I intend to start using Netflix!

hi i do think it is worth the extra money and like you had the same thing happen have now ditched sky 4 virgin and soon netflix will be on virgin .think they are testing at the moment0

The VM 'Householder' junk mail is sent to every house in the postcode areas they cover. Receiving it does not mean that they can actually connect you if it's not been pre-cabled.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Exactly as macman says. I'm in the same situation. The houses at the bottom of my small street can get Virgin, but us further up can't. I don't think Virgin are extending their network at the moment so chances are if you cant get it now, you wont be able to for the foreseeable future.0

Since you both said similar I'll quote you both... I am in a cable area.
Checked Virgin's website and my address now appears where as previously it never did... I think I shall give it a go, see if it get's connected... I've nothing to lose!
Virgin have been doing a lot to there network in this area, they are currently connecting my dad's 20 year old properties (flats) to the street outside...0 -

If you want to move -I'd just not cancel the Sky until Virgin have activated-means a double month of charges at worst but peace of mind you won't have a break in service if that is really important to you.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -

I've been wanting to ditch Sky for a while, but currently on a free six month TV + Movies package - 2nd time, they keep giving me 'good offers' to stay... Was simply thinking of getting a Freeview box that records, but I suspect there are some channels I will miss on Sky...
More so I fancy Virgin because of fast BB and the ability to record 3 channels at once! :T0 -
Hi just to add my 50p worth, NETFLIX will soon be rolled out as part of the Apps on TiVO, From my understanding 120meg cust will get an UG to 152meg, and 60 meg will get an UG to 100 meg this wont happen until next year.
You'll find all of the providers have something up there sleeve to increase there Cust Base.
Majority of the reasons why some properties can't be provided is often due to infrastructure or Wayleave rights particularly on New Builds.
Virgin Media are always looking to increase its capacity, infact Barratt Homes and Virgin Media now work together to bring the Virgin Media experience to Barratt Home Residents.
It will only be a matter of time before other developers follow suit.Twisted_Cherry wrote: »Lived in a newly build property for three years, a flat but could not get Virgin, despite it being in the area, on the same street (two streets run side by side)
