I am so disappointed with Google. I used to have a personalised home page with gmail, BBC news headlines & sport, local weather, local map with Traffic etc. all there on my home page. But Google have done away with iGoogle and now -NOTHING! Absolute zilch, which means I have to log on to each one separately. So, can anyone recommend a really good alternative home page ?

You really are making a mountain out of a molehill aren't you!
It may be a molehill to you, but to a non-techie oap, configuring is not so easy. Have tried on Firefox and it is so complicated.

  • I also miss i-google. I don't think pinned tabs do the same thing at all, as the i-google thingies showed updated content actually on your front page, like widgets on your phone.

When Google first said they were discontinuing it I did look at alternatives, but haven't done anything about it yet, and don't remember now what they were. I think some quick googling might come up with answers

  • I've discover ighome, very simillar to igoogle and if you had exported your igoogle page you can import here.

    http://www.ighome.com
  • Tried ighome, didn't like the look of it and it seemed to slow everything down.

I've now settled on netvibes, which has loads of widgets/apps, and is simple to set up if you opt for the "refugee" dashboard. I've got a simple Google search, as the stock one creates annoying sticky tabs, and a Google services app, which makes everything google quickly accessible, as well as a gmail app which shows incoming emails

I've been able to restore things like the BBC headlines and newspapers which I had on igoogle, and it doesn't slow things down.
