Which tablet can I watch movies without wifi?

Hope the title makes sense ... Basically we want to buy a tablet that we can use to watch movies whilst travelling. The iPad is too high a price somewhat other tablets are more reasonably priced that allow you to watch movies without any data connection. Thanks in advance.

I don't think you understand how it works.

To stream movies you'll need internet (wifi). This applies to any tablet.

Otherwise you can download them to your tablet before you go, using your home internet. You won't need a data connection to watch those.

If you buy a nexus 7 and your films are on an external usb drive then using something called a usb OTG cable (very cheap to buy) you can play your films very easily. http://carman58.hubpages.com/hub/How-to-use-external-memory-on-the-Nexus-7-WITHOUT-rooting

You have two options, buy a product with data and stream as you travel, or buy a product with wifi and download films at home before you leave.

Thanks I understand I just don't think I explained very well.

    I don't want a data contract.

I want to watch movies whilst travelling.

I have a Kindle fire which will only stream from a wifi connection which is obviously not available on a plane.

What tablet (other than an expensive iPad) can I buy to be able to download movies in advance?

Any tablet with Wifi will allow you to download movies while at home using your own BB connection and store them on your tablet so that you can watch these movies on the go. If you go on a plane you just need to disable the wifi links on your tablet so it will not auto connect to any stray wifi signals

You just want a normal Android Tablet. You can download the films to the Tablet in advance.
    A couple of examples here

They have ample storage for you to transfer or download films to the device, either from your computer or via WiFi.

If out and about, you can use a MiFi unit with a PAYG data SIM for Internet access.

The Kindle doesn't allow you to do this. It will only allow streaming which is why I've asked the question. So it must only be the Kindle that doesn't let you download?

The Kindle isn't a standard Tablet.
