The first post says, she needs a new laptop because she seems to burn them out...

So, the question was, what exactly does that mean, because people here may be able to help you fix that, assuming it isn't smoking.

She doesn't want it fixed, she wants a new one.

The issue with small devices the batteries are not that great so they spend most of their time on charge producing more heat.

Not good for their lifespan. Build a desktop or micro PC instead. Ive had them running 24/7 under high load's for years on end. Just the occasional reboot every now and then. But rarely switched off.

    Running Seti@Home etc whilst idle.

Use it to run the test suggested above.

Deary me, am I living in a parallel world?! :rotfl:

I just need a simple answer of yes or no, without all the ins and outs of fixing old one, testing old one etc. It doesn't work, this is why I need to buy her a new one! :rotfl:

    Yes, you are.

    You've told us...
I'm sure I read something about Flash based sites not working, but I'm not sure what ones are and what ones aren't.

But you haven't told us which online Bingo website/s she may use, so how would anyone know?
So you want someone to give you a yes or not to your muddled question. It's not happening, is it?
So the suggestion is that if the current laptop need a simple fix, you can run all of the websites she uses in Chrome without Plug-ins to test it.

Perhaps someone here will do it for you, but I doubt it, as perhaps you don't appear to be a particularly pleasant person.

Perhaps time for you to head down to PC World and to ask them there. :)

This must be an issue related directly to the Techie board then.... clearly I have posted here as I don't have much knowledge about this kind of stuff.

If the actual sites she uses were needed in order to come up with an answer... why didn't you ask?! I have no idea how bingo sites work, are they not all the same?!

Maybe I will just ask in PC World, although no doubt they will give me a yes just to get me to buy one....

And p.s, I am a very nice person actually.

This is a Tech board, not an online Bingo playing board.

We did ask questions, just not the one's that you wanted to hear.
Clearly the idea was for you to test all of the websites she may use, otherwise if even one is not compatible she would be stuck....unless you put it in Developer mode.

So don't get frustrated because you aren't getting the answer that you want to hear.

You appear to be determined to buy a Chromebook, so....

Sorry, I am obviously mistaken if I thought that someone, somewhere on a Technical board would be able to answer a technical question about a laptop being able to work on certain websites.

I cannot test the websites as the old laptop does not work, and I use a Mac.

I possibly am determined to buy a Chromebook as 1. they are cheap, and 2. it will probably be burnt out in a matter of months so I am not spending too much money on this.

What seemed to me such a simple question has turned into a huge debate on the merits of buying whatever laptop, testing old one etc.

My mistake for posting and expecting some sort of help without judgement or criticism - I will go elsewhere!
