    I opened the 3 BoS online (the only glitch happening when it wanted a local branch so I had to telephone and was given the Edinburgh postcode) and the TSB also went fine online.

    I didn't have to go in to a branch with any ID, although it may have helped that I was an existing Halifax customer (for the BoS) and an existing Lloyds customer (for TSB).

    My only suggestion would be that all of them I did 24 hours apart which might have helped.
    Hi claire, seems it,s just pot luck if they allow or not.
    I am a Halifax customer, the Ayr code (scotland ) didn,t work for me, or the glagow one, both given by BOS advisor on the phone, so cannot see why one does it, yet others are stopped. Did you phone after first refusal, then given Edinburgh postcode, then did all 3 with Edinburgh postcode?
    Lloyds did all 3 no bother online;
    BOS only 1 on phone.looks like the other 2 will have to be that way also;
    TSB online , still waiting to see if it,s been accepted by post.
    So there,s no right or wrong, just confusion,but, isn,t that what banks are for.:)

    Hi joe134

    I phoned after the first refusal and was given Edinburgh postcode EH1 2PH and the first one then went through. So I tried the next 24hours later again with the Edinburgh postcode and as that went through I did the third the same 24 hours later.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Claire, thankyou very much for post code;
    Used it today, successfully to obtain another A/c.( 2nd)
    I tried for my final (3rd) but denied (,postcode again), so there must be some time restriction on it;
    You would think it would say , only 1 in 24 hrs, not deny post code, makes one think they have done something wrong:mad:
    Try again tomorrow:-)
    Did my last 2 TSB ones also, they don,t say if you are successful online, by post, so will wait and see?:beer:

    Well done, glad it helped with the postcode. I hope you'll be OK if you wait 24 hours to try again.

    If I remember rightly with TSB they didn't confirm anything online and the first I knew I'd been accepted was when I got confirmation of all three through the post.

    Hi, Anyone having trouble with Activation code from LLoyds?
    I,ve got mine, but it doesn,t ask for it during Login.
    Unhelpful woman on phone said it asks on memorable data page,;; not on mine? OR, am I the only one that,s had one?
    She said all sorts of baloney, it,s a new thing, only be going 3 weeks, cannot use a/cs until IB is activated, no help at all..
    Know where I feel like putting it:-)

    I'm also experiencing this, yes. I used to have Vantages under the Lloyds TSB banner but they went over to TSB so I thought I'd open some more with Lloyds. Successfully applied online but when I try to go on to online banking it doesn't prompt for the supplied activation code, it goes through the normal authentication process and then reports that there's been a technical problem and won't go any further.

    I spoke to their online banking helpdesk a few days ago, they said that it was a known issue but couldn't give any timescale for resolution....

    Hi E, so it is a glitch;
    When I suggested this to the girl on phone, she denied there were issues with it;:D
    Mine doesn,t say there,s a problem when logging on, just does NOT mention Activation at all, so it,s useless without it.
    Security set up I suppose, but, not patched.
    I,m concerned;; as in earlier post, I was told Lloyds have thier own license, so not sure if they are all under the same £85k rule.
    Halifax is showing BOS in IB, so they are sharing license.
    4 A/cs soon go go over £85k , rather not;
    Is lloyds on it,s own??
    Sure Martins says all 4 are under 1 license.?
    Advice welcome before I shift money, When/If Lloyds get the glitch sorted.

    I am sure Martin does not say they are all under 1 licence. But you can check for yourself.

    Hi innovate,I got the info from that link
    ".Halifax Bank of Scotland and Lloyds TSB" as read;
    The first group of banks mse says,is Halifax Bo's Lloyd's TSB.
    I presumed they are all under one bannerIf they are on one line?
    I cannot see how I,ve misread it?
    But, I may have.
    Below are Santander ings
    Etc.
    Perhaps you could enlighten me please?:)

    The line you refer to is within a later explanatory section about mergers, etc, and is actually a link, so when you click on it, it tells you:
    After Halifax Bank of Scotland (HBOS) got into trouble in autumn 2008, Lloyds TSB came in to take it over. In January 2009 it was confirmed their FSCS licences would remain unchanged.

    That means there are two separate institutions, so if you've savings in both, they're covered up to £85,000 each

    However, that piece is out of date and so, since Lloyds and TSB have now gone their separate ways, those four institutions (Lloyds, TSB, Halifax, BoS) are now covered by three separate licences.

    If you follow the link in innovate's post it takes you straight to the part of the page that answers the question, labelled as 'Which Banks Are Linked?', where you can access all the info about which banks are in which groups.
