2000 - Cumbria. Bought a repo. Advertised at £99,950, got it for £63,000.
3/4 bed semi detached barn conversion with with a single storey one bed self contained annex in a town location!
Spent in the region of £55k over the next 2 - 3 years. Major work (cost wise) was damp proofing - needed a lot of tanking as part of the house is below ground level. Also the windows although double glazed were soft wood. The rest was kitchens, bathrooms and flooring mainly.
Would need to go to market to find out how much it is worth now, quite a restricted market for properties with an annexe. Always sounds nice but in reality unless it is going to used all you gain is a few extra rooms to heat and maintain:D
Would hope to realise £250k - £300k.0 -

In June 2013 we bought a 1940s 3 bed semi in Glasgow - paid £135k - this was over the value but there was lots of interest and we were happy with the price. It needs a bit of updating but we can do it gradually over time.0

Outskirts of Leeds March 2013
Ground floor apartment with garden 800 sq ft
New build £125K asking price was £150K but we managed to get it down as the original buyer had pulled out, it was hard to sell on as it has a wet room instead of a standard bathroom.

3 bedroom late 1970's detached house with detached garage in West Sussex (South East, commuter town).
Asking price £265k.
Went in straight away with offer of £249,950 and accepted due to our short chain.
Good condition (used to be rented) and has given us a blank canvas to make improvements.
Tips - Do not be forced into seeing the EA's own 'independent financial advisor', always arrange your own whole-of-market advisor.

In 2007 we advertised our flat in SW15 for £210k and sold it for £202k. We bought a 3-bed end terrace in Berkshire. It was advertised at £269k (originally marketed at £279k) and we told them we wouldn't go a penny above £250k because of the stamp duty threshold. They reluctantly accepted - I think the house had been on the market a while and the viewings had dried up. We've recently converted the loft and I think it's now worth £300-320k.0

2006 - bought 2 bed flat for £69k, asking price £75k
2012 - sold flat for £68k
2012 - bought new build 4 bed for £145k
Not planning to move again for a long time! Don't think the new build would sell for what we paid for a while and we gave paid £12k in extras on top of the £145k. I would not recommend buying a new build if the building will be going on for a long time and you might want to move again in the short term. My estate began 5 years ago is some of the earlier ones are back up for sale but nit selling due to there being grand new versions available.0
