Are the advents worth it?

Hi, I was wondering if people on here find the advent comps worth the effort of entering them all? Are they time consuming considering the chances of winning or are chances quite good? I've not tackled them before!
Best wins in 2013 £200 and Mini iPad. 2014 no wins. 2015 2 nights 5* hotel with £300 vouchers plus £1150 Harrods gift card

Went in for literally hundreds last year and won...a mini Lego figure.
Was meant to be Star Wars one but turned out to be just an ordinary bubble pack one so was a bitafter all the effort..
Guess if you have the time then fair enough, go for it but don't think I'll be spending quite a much time this year...would rather spend it with my daughter doing jigsaws.0 -
I only enter ones I really want. So, either 'big prizes' or the gadget ones.
I'll probably do most of the twitter ones and all the instant win or gadgets. But, the rest, I won't bother with. I don't have the time nor the patience to do about 200+ a day and all the other ones.
So find the ones which will work for you - or prizes you really want.
But, I've won good prizes from them beforexx

You could say the same of comps any time of the year to be honest. We all have lucky streaks and dry spells - if you're someone who has been very lucky with advents you will think it's worth it, if you've never one much you probably won't think so. Just remember you have to be in it to win it, don't try and enter everything and anything - bookmark the ones you really want to win and get those done first, if you have time for the rest later then great, if not don't worry about it.A closed mouth gathers no feet.0

Advents suck the life out of you and seem to start earlier every year. The stress of trying to do every advent as well as regular comps leads to a kind of comping insanity where each day becomes identical to the last and you only realise it is Christmas Day because Facebook is a teeny bit quieter than normal.
Is it worth all the anxiety, self-imposed pressure and time? Not unless you win £10,000! :rotfl:
But it IS fun and you normally decide by the second week that you're only going to enter things you REALLY want to win.
Somebody had a signature last year that was something like "No, I am not a failure if I don't finish every advent comp every day" and that's pretty much how you have to think.
Honestly, try explaining to a non-comper how intense advents are and they look at you like you are mad. I did get one of my favourite wins ever from an advent though - a huge, free-range bronze turkey - but I can't honestly say that I win loads more in December. Maybe lots of little things and stocking fillers but it's not like an Xbox every day.
Just jump in and give it a go. You can always bow out gracefully if you think it's a waste of timeLiving with Lupus is like juggling with butterflies0 -
I have done them for the past 2 or 3 years. Last year I put in a lot of effort, entered hundreds of them every day... and didn't win a sausage. I did however win a doozy of a prize from a 31/12 ending normal comp... so maybe I should have stuck to them!
I'll be doing them again this year though, it's getting to be part of the festivities for me, finding the haggis and trying to win Haribo0 -
No.

No, really I think I only won one thing last year (I can't even remember what it was) and one think the year before (a bracelet, I think). I'm not bothering much this year.0 -
I've always won a few things but last year I won loads - the biggest being a digital cameraproud gran to 4 lovely boys and one little girl0

I've never been very lucky with them. Never seem to win much in December - maybe this year!Mar Wins :- £2 GfK Media

What makes me laugh is the way advents are promoted, like..'look woohoo! we're giving away a prize every day leading up to Xmas', as if they're the only ones to think of running an advent competition.
To answer the OP, no I don't think they are worth it...cos I never win on them.0 -
Yes, if your lucky and you don't want the items for this Christmas as very lucky to receive them before. As others say just do the ones you would like to win.Silver Surfer, Always Smiling
