Quote for new kitchen

Hi all
Hoping someone can advice me. Went into magnet today after seeing adverts for 50% off their units. I know these advertised sales are not completely honest. Chose their studio creme kitchen and was quoted £6800 after much negotiation. This is for 14 unit which includes a kitchen island, sink, integrated zanussi 5 burner hob, zanussi hood, integrated double oven, and integrated zanussi fridge freezer. We will source integrated dishwasher and washing machine else where.
Sounded all good so paid £500 deposit with magnet coming on Tuesday to check measurement. But I'm now having doubts. Howdens are coming on Saturday to measure and give us a quote. This was arranged through our builder who will be fitting any kitchen we get.
We can only really afford about £3000 at the moment and was hoping to put the rest on interest free credit with magnet.
Are we better off sticking with magnet or do you think howden prices will come out cheaper and do howdens offer any sort of credit.
Sorry for the long post but hope it make sense.
Thanks

Thanks Steve. I think I'd better do that otherwise I will always wonder what howdens would have come up with. Will see if they will let me cancel. Get the feeling they might give me some trouble.0

Howdens is a B2B so YOU will not get any guarentee's with the product whatsoever.
Magnet offer 15 years. you get what you pay for and i would go for a Magnet kitchen over Howdens any day of the week.
Any company dealing with the public will get complaints. There's just no pleasing some people!
At least 3 of my friends have purchased Magnet kitchen over the last couple of years and the aftersales service has been fantastic.
Upto you OP but son't forget the Howdens kitchen will always belong to your builder so goodbye warranty!DEBT FREE AND PROUD

I would go for Magnet if i was you, When we looked over a year ago, our joiner was pushing for us to use Howdens, i didnt think very much of them really, (but im presuming the joiner gets a discount, which probably wouldnt be passed onto us) The quality wasnt any better than anywhere else, and they certainly werent cheaper, there range of hobs, ovens etc, where all there own branded stuff, which was pretty low range IMO, and they were not as cheap as i expected.
anyways, we went with Wren (Despite all the bad reviews). and love the kitchen, had no problems at all. (Im sure Wren and Magnet at the same company ??? im sure someone will correct me if im wrong)0 -
You thought about Magnet trade? Quite a bit cheaper than magnet retail for same product. You have to go through builder/trade.0

I've recently had a new kitchen. I've had Magnet's studio before & quite fancied that in this house. Had a guy round to measure up & give a price but they were unwilling to budge on price in spite of being shown quotes for other similar kitchens from other manufacturer's. This was Magnet Trade by the way.
Howden's were far too slow in coming back with quotes & in the end I went with Benchmarx & saved about £800 compared to Magnet price for basically the same kitchen. I'm very happy with both my kitchen & the service that Benchmarx gave. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
We r in process of getting new kitchen. Benchmarx I'd very reasonably priced.0

Why are they obliged to give a deposit back, just because youve "Changed your mind?"0

I would not recommend Magnet. I too have the cream kitchen that's used in the adverts and the doors keep bowing. Magnet make only the carcasses and buy in the doors....there is clearly issues with production of these. Had numerous doors replaced and had a full refit only last week and these are bowed. Last year the 4 day fit for units and 2 days for granite took 7 weeks (not cooking or water during this time)and only completed when I sent recorded delivery letter to MD. Store ignored problems and would not return calls. Hoped that was the end of it but sadly not. Prior to recent refit, integrated fridge door so bowed it was catching on frame and I could only open so far and for a year now they have been unable to find out why freezer door drops and catches on frame. Paid £11000 for small kitchen and both the units and the quartz top are rubbish..read reviews on other sites. They tell me I am the ONLY customer who the issue with bowed doors. Yeah...I just bend them myself do I???0
