Supanet help

Hi everyone, So....

I have just phoned Supanet about a £9 overuse charge accrued on the last day of my billing month which they took without any notice. My complaint to them was that I was not aware I would be charged for overuse since I signed up to an unlimited package several years ago (subject to fair usage) Firstly I found out that it is no longer an unlimited broadband package and they therefore would not refund the charge, and secondly It appears that I have been signed up to another 18 month package this January without my knowledge! I do remember a sales call trying to flog a phone package (I told them no as they couldn't beat the price of the one I had with the Post Office) There is no way I would have agreed to new contract.
Having found this out asked to be transferred to cancellation as all billing could do was read what was noted down at the time and infer that I was lying (interestingly the details of my phone package they had noted were wrong) When I asked about cancelling my broadband with them due to my not agreeing to the changes they made to my service or the new contract I had been signed up to, I was told that they will now have to listen to the call made in January and that they will get back to me in 48 working hours. If I want to hear the call for myself I have to send them a cheque for £15 and they will post a CD to me, otherwise I will have to take their word for it.
This is not the first time they have signed me up for something I didn't ask for, last time it was extra features but on that occasion they were very apologetic and refunded the charges straight away.

To be honest I am quite upset with the way I have been treated and was nearly reduced to tears by the the attitude of the call centre workers. I accept that it is unlikely that I will get the £9 overuse fee back however I have absolutely no idea how to proceed regarding the 18 month contract. I certainly do not want to remain with Supanet after the way I was treated today.

I am really hoping someone here can advise me how to handle this as I am rather out of my depth.

Thanks
