Faulty RAM in computer system after 14 months

Thanks very much for all your responses. If you have relied on your statutory rights against the seller, then the seller would've needed to provide a remedy 'without causing significant inconvenience'.
This was exactly my thinking as I work from home daily (remotely to an office located far away) as well as use it for some private research purposes, so this would cause significant inconvenience. One extra thing to note is that had you tried to use the Sale of Goods act the retailer could have asked you to prove that the fault was inherent because it is more than 6 months since you bought it.
Even if the RAM is expected to last the lifetime of the product?
However, it sounds as though things are grey enough that I'm probably best off just purchasing some temporary RAM until the kit is returned.
Thanks again,

Check eBay, there might well be some of a suitable spec going cheap after someone else upgraded, just to tide you over.0 -
Not unusual, the ram is sold as a matched set, they have all four back otherwise you may have compatability issues if only one stick is replaced.
Short inconvenience, but better in the long run...0
