Lovefilm put account on hold when you had too many faulty discs

I have plenty of my own discs and NONE of them have been damaged by any of my devices.
Most of the titles I rent from LF are normal DVDs as there is no BR version.
It probably down to a few customers that use the discs as coasters and frisbees.
Still going to use LF but they need to do something about those who do damage the discs, not punish the innocent that receive the discs as damaged.0 -
If some of the damaged discs are being called that due to freezing/skipping during playback, this can often be solved by breathing on the non-labelled side and gently wiping with your sleeve or across a t shirt (while on!) for example.0

Where has that come from. NOBODY has mentioned blu ray until you did.
Got to admit I forgot they existed! I use Lovefilm & haven't watched DVD format probably since about 2006 lol. I just associate Lovefilm with blurays now.
However maybe a firmware update even with a DVD player might do the trick?0 -
How would a firmware update help? If the disc itself is scratched the disc is the problem.
I actually left lovefilm for the same reasons, although I had a game package. Waited ages for a game and within 10 minutes it froze and wouldnt play. I used to wait weeks to recieve anything too so some months I was paying the subscription fee and not recieving anything, then after I cancelled my account they carried on charging me for 3 months! Awful service! I use Netflix now and its much better.0 -
Are the faults all on discs from the same series? I only ask because we recently rented a film and couldn't get past the first 3 minutes without it skipping back to the beginning and if we fast forwarded past that bit it would skip back again after a few minutes.
We sent the disc back as faulty and they resent it and the exact same thing happened. We returned the disc as faulty again and also emailed them a complaint that we had returned a disc as faulty and been sent the exact same disc back.
The third disc replacement we received again had the exact same fault and we found (with a little googling) that certain versions of the disc have a fault that causes them the replay each chapeter over and over again instead of going forward.
You do seem to be very unlucky- we've had an account for 2-3 years and get through 4-6 films a week and I would guess we've had about 5 faulty discs (if you count the film I mentioned as only 1).0
