My cats eat only raw food now and their poos simply don't smell at all any more.

It makes you really wonder what rubbish goes into commercial cat food. Why carry on feeding something that clearly disagrees with a cat's digestion? How uncomfortable it must be for them.
  • When we first adopted Harry I tried him on Felix and OMG, what a smell! He now only eats James Wellbeloved dry food (please don't tell me off, he won't actually eat wet food now!) and there are no nasty smells.
  • I work in veterinary science and studied carnivore nutrition as one of my specialist fields at uni. Some of the things that go into cheap pet foods (Whiskas, Felix, Sheba etc) and especially dry foods are just shocking -cats have no biological need for rice, wheat, grain, potato, or any other cheap rubbish in their diets - its no wonder so many cats end up with rotten teeth and renal problems at 12 or 13 years of age :-( Also, just because a brand has 'veterinary' or 'science' in the title doesn't make it good - it means a vet has glanced at the contents and signed it off in return for a hefty consultation remuneration.

Both of mine are on raw food diets and are very healthy. I also managed to convert my Mum's cat - a pouch addict - onto raw and all of his health problems have cleared up. There are a few brands you can try - Natures Instinct have been going for some time and are well established, although recently I've been trying out the new brand Nutriment and so far am pleased with the results.

They are now doing a starter pack for cats at £18 including delivery - why not give it a try?

  • GeckoGirl - why is that even though vets know about the purely carnivorous nature of cats they still push the dry and commercial stuff onto owners? I find it very hard to reconcile the 'caring vet' image with these kinds of actions, and want to cause a scene each time I see someone coming into the vets office and giving the hills selection a lot of thought, but I don't because I'm sure they'd put me on the blacklist :D.
