Do auctions not work on ebay anymore ? No sales from auctions.

I tend to find on my company eBay, that auction works best (although it's generally to shift vehicles in working order, but with 250k+ miles on them)
On my personal profile, I'm having the same issue, and just listing as BIN now.

Ebay emailed me recently, asking if i would mind if the auction format was dropped by them.
Clearly something they consider now and again - and put feelers out to see what we think.0 -
I consistently do better on BIN than auctions, unless the item is just out in shops.0

Had a fair few items end yesterday, all auctions, not one of them sold!
I lowered prices and postage costs (tried to sell some before) so prices were fine/cheaper based on other listings/sold items, all the items are in really good condition, very popular thing to buy at this time of year, similar items have been selling fine recently, I have excellent feedback, proper descriptions and good photos etc, had a good number of views and people watching yet not a single bid. I can't work out why.
Considering BIN for some just to see if they sell, but as a private seller it's not worth it for me to list them all as that and just hope

As I mainly buy stuff on Ebay rather than sell, I tend to go for Buy It Now for new items as I can't be bothered with bidding on an auction, waiting for days, only to be beaten at the last minute. I will check around other sites to make sure I'm getting the best price I can, but BIN is my usual preference.
I suppose in some ways I treat eBay like Amazon or any other online shopping site for brand new stuff.
Second hand stuff I may well go for in an auction, as I'm hoping for a cheaper price than new and the item might not be available new any longer.0 -

I'd be disappointed if auctions were dropped.
I'm working on clearing my loft, so there's things I just want taken off my hands, rather than making money out of them. I list things at a low start price and see how far it goes. Often I am pleasantly surprised at the end price.
If I was doing BINs, I'd have never asked for some of the prices that I have achieved.
I still think there's plenty of mileage left in the auction formatEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Most of my ebay purchases have been random, recently using the MSE local ebay deals tool.
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/local-ebay-deals/
I've bought a few items over the last few months because the start price was low and there were no bidders.
My most recent one, was a desk chair in red, for 87p, but I had to pick it up and spent about £4 in petrol. (It only just fitted in the MX5) The seller couldn't even be bothered to wait in, so I picked it up from her porch and stuck £1 in an envelope through the door.
The one before last christmas was 10 books on the Beatles. £300 worth when new, and some were as new. £10. I gave 3 away as christmas presents.0 -
I always opt for BIN when Im looking to buy!!! Not worth wasting my time on auctions.when_will_it_end wrote: »I always opt for auction only when im looking to buyillegitimi non carborundum0
