Is this deal to good to be true?

Firstly the offer is with https://www.phoneboxdirect.co.uk,

I have no affiliation or infact know anything about them hence me posting on this forum. Has anyone had problems with the company before?

They are offering the Samsung U600 on a 12 month contract at £35 on Vodafone (500 XNET Minutes, 250 texts. That doesn’t sound that special but by the form of cashback they are offering £420 (12 x £35).

So effectively the phone is free if you opt out of insurance, and itemised billing!

Surely this is too good to be true (something for nothing doesn’t exist does it???)!
Rock on MSE!!!

I hope not, since I have one contract with them already, another with their sister site and am looking for more in due course.

There's a whole thread on Coolnewmobile (same company) and another on Phonebox Direct - both of which I have followed closely for a few months now. I have used cpw companies before and have several totally free contracts without missing any cashbacks in my first year, but Phonebox Direct/Coolnewmobile pretend to be a LOT bigger than they actually are and have seemed to be taking over 2 months recently to pay claims (but I've noticed a lot of other companies have to!).

I'm not too worried about them, but do make sure you study the t&c VERY carefully and accept the risks before taking the plunge. If the company were to go bust that would be the end of your cashback; if you get one claim wrong as many do you'll lose any outstanding cashback. So make sure you know how it works and have a long, slow read through the relevant threads:-

I keep these on my favourites and check the latest comments/feedback every day. There is more feedback around but these are the best and if you start from near the beginning (rather than the latest pages as above) you will get an idea of their history.

e2 Save part of CPW are doing the Nokia 6300 for free on a 12 month contract on Orange where you get all your money back via Cashback.

Also Phones 4U are doing the same phone on Vodafone again for free on 500 mins & txts per month at £40/mth but you get it all back via cashback. Plus you can get £60 through QuidCo for a new Phones 4U Contract. Don't know if it applies to the free contracts though.
    Cheers

All very true; but E2Save have copied Coolnewmobile/PhoneboxDirect's t&c so they are not their normal ones and causing people a lot of confusion! I have also tried to get some straight basic answers in writing from Phones4U and since I couldn;t get ANYTHING in writing and two telephone conversations gave conflicting information I am avoiding them. Besides; Vodafone is a MUCH better tariff than Orange (E2Save deal).
  • Mobilephonesontheweb are doing this Samsung deal as well, but they will port your number to Vodaphone, wheras PBD won't.

I've been with Cool New Mobile, the sister company of PBD for 12 months and have had no problems with the cashback. They are slow, but the cheques have always arrived in the end.

It's a good deal if you don't need to port.

Pretty much; although this year they have rather gone downhill in my view. They are now using someone else's less forgiving terms and conditions so make sure you fully understand them first!
