Scottish Power customers - check your tariff!
Hi, just a warning for Scottish Power customers.
If you have clicked on a link on their website to Find a Better Energy deal or some such in the last month or so you may find that you have been moved to a new tariff automatically without your consent!
I was moved to a more expensive tariff before my current fixed deal is due to end. I phoned up and they said this was a mistake that had happened to many customers and restored me to my old cheaper tariff. Whether they would have done this had I not rung them I don't know...
Be warned.

how long is it going to take you to get off the new tariff? Were you just looking into it then? Have you officially complained?0 -

They corrected it immediately with no charge and apologised. I just checked my account online and it is back to my previous tariff (fixed Jan 2014).
They claimed that there was a mistake with the website in that it was automatically switching customers to new tariffs when they had only enquired about switching.
One hopes that they are rectifying these mistakes for everyone whether they ring up or not.0 -
Thanks for this, I have just checked mine as I have been looking on their website to see if any better deals will be available. I too am on the Online Fixed Price Energy January 2014 and am confused .... do I switch now or not?0

I think it's time to look at switching because there is only a few months left on this tariff.
A point to note is that 'Online Fixed Price Energy January 2014' actually ends on 31st Dec 2013 - at least mine does.0 -
I'm going to the edf online fixed price promise one March 2015. From the January 2014 Scottish Power one it puts my gas up by 9.52% and my electric up by 14.85%. To go onto the March 2015 Scottish Power fixed one it would put my gas up by 12.17% and my electric up by 19.19%. Of course the percentage would be higher if it was onto a standard tariff.
Also I thought yes it takes 4-5 weeks for it to transfer anyway and when it does I am moving from a tier A and B tariff to a daily standing charge for the coldest months.
I use 2746kwh's in electric and 20982kwh's in gas (so Scottish power say) a year.0 -
There are obviously massive differences between areas for SP customers. I'm in the East and have just switched from a Jan 2014 fixed SP tariff to SP March 2015 Fixed and my gas and electricity went up by around 7%. In fact my E7 rate went down slightly.0
