Beware Scottish Power

Hi. I have been on the January 2014 online fixed tariff with Scottish power for a while now and looked around for a new tariff due to the price rises. I looked a few times at the Online Fixed Price Energy March 2015 Scottish power tariff and requested a call back online about the new tariff.

I then received my actual annual usage from Scottish power and redid the comparisons. I have since started a switch to edf March price promise 2015 and am in the cooling period being able to see my account online.

Just gone online to my Scottish power account today to see if there is anything on there about the switch to find that they have moved me onto the Online Fixed Price Energy March 2015 Scottish power tariff when all I ever did was enquire about it.

I've just spoken to Scottish Power on the phone. I told them that I don't know why I was now on the Online Fixed Price Energy March 2015 tariff as I'd not asked to be transferred. They agree that I never asked to be transferred from the January 2014 no cancellation costs tariff to the March 2015 fixed £50 (duel fuel) tariff. I now have to be on the March 2015 tariff for a week whilst they switch me back. I have a complaints ref number and SHOULD be getting a call from their customer support. So to sum it up -
  1. Scottish Power have move me from a no cancelation costs tariff to a £50 fee cancelation costs tariff without my permission.
  2. The tariff makes me a customer of Scottish Power for an extra 15 months and is more expensive, obviously in Scottish Powers favour.
  3. Its now going to take me 5-7 days to get off a tariff I didn't want to be on to start with.
  4. When I rang up I had to wait 3 hours to speak to someone about it.
  5. When I spoke to them about it they were trying to sell me the tariff and keep me on it like using their error as a marketing ploy.

It is not only SP that does something like this .With atlantic and asked about their fixes on sse said i would look at their terms and prices and make my mind up later. I recieved a letter thanking me for taking out a 2yr fix phoned them up and their systems did not have any record of this and they would put on the system that i did not want this. i told them it had better not interfere for my switch with another energy firm.

Ikmc01, it sounds like a miss understanding.
I have just moved on to the March 2015 tariff. With all new tariffs, prices will rise.

Are you telling us you will be paying less for the edf March 2015?
    edf with no transfer fee.

Scottish Power has changed my tariff from the January 2014 fixed online one to the March 2015 fixed one without my permission and are now going to take 5-7 days to switch it back to the January 2014 one. This is separate to my switch to edf.

I phoned Scottish Power when we moved into our current place as the previous tenants were also with them. To be honest, I didn't understand most of the conversation, I just agreed with much of it, but they could have sold me anything and I wouldn't have understood - I really struggled with the heavy Scottish accent...

Granny, thats right. Every time you move tariff the price goes up.you chose a tariff and then fix in for what ever you have chosen so that if the KHw goes up you stay on your chosen fix till it ends.

eg. my new SP tariff fixes the price for x2 winters. When it ends I move on to a new chosen tariff and pay the new KHw price.

check when your mothers tariff ends.

    Happy Halloween to you both.
