This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning all,
Turned very cold here this morning, mind you that wont be helped by my hot water bottle springing a leak in the night, and me waking up soaked and cold, the matress is wet through too, will have to try and strip it off and air it today.
Off to work for me am looking forward to it best to keep my mind busy, we tried to collect dads ashes yesterday and they would not let us as there has to be a named person to collect them (my mum in our case) and the funeral people had spelt mums name wrong and it did not match her ID so they would not release dad, they were very rude and abrupt about it, I know they have to be careful about giving them to the wrong person, but their attitude was like we were trying to steal some ashes !
Chips for dinner tonight just OH and I in, dd is off shoping for the day with the girls then off out clubbing tonight for halloween.
Have good days all xx

God knows what I was thinking ! changed it now xx0 -
RR - how awful for you and your mum. How many closely similar names can there be due to collect ashes on one day!
Drizzly rain here, off for my last class of this course and greatly relieved. The course has been fun but she gives us homework!!
Not even got Halloween decorations down from the attic yet, it will be a panic later.
Have a good day all0 -
Morning al
RR - how frustrating for you. I hope you are able to sort it soon.

Need to order the last of OHs presents and a card today then his birthday is sorted. Bills to be paid too.
Will do some washing later and we have a food shop getting delivered.
Sweet potato kievs with roast carrots and corn on the cob for dinner. Lunch is a wrap for waitrose I got for 19p!

Redruby I hope your mum can sort the ID problem out quickly. Just what you don't need right now
Severn Trent were working outside again yesterday, pumping, jetwashing and leaking onto the roadStill not sure what's going on.
I've given up trying to get my poinsettias perfect, the best I can do looks like two stars stitched togetherBut they're red and green, so that's Christmassy enough for me.
I found THIS yesterday so I've started making poppies. I'm a bit late, will give them a ring later to see if they need more. Not sure whether to be annoyed, or laugh at the pattern – it's for British soldiers and they've used the wrong stitch terms – American instead of British. Anyway, it's my first involvement in a yarn bombing
Miss tru loved her trial day at work yesterday. She got the job :T It's in a retro sweet shop, they do everything retro I think – a till where you have to tap the price in, no scanners in sightThey're paid weekly in cash (an envelope with money and a payslip, not cash in hand). A whole hour for lunch, that's pretty much unheard of now. Wish I'd applied myself

Good morning everyone
redruby - that is appalling, I really think you should make a complaint about the workers attitude and behaviour towards you
tru - I love the poppy pattern and the idea of the yarn bombing. Well done to Miss Tru on her new job :T
Need to go to Manchester today to go for lunch with CEO for new job. That's a bit different to current job where president of the company can't even be bothered saying hello to us as he walks through the office and can't look us in the face when he tells us we are losing our jobs. Anyway it's the first time I have looked forward to my commute in a long time!
Free listing on ebay for Halloween today so must try and list a few decluttered items later.
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Tru ooh sounds right up my street
Gonzo. Sweet potato kievs sound delish:D
Up early as I'm off for a day at the charity shops with my bestie. She will pick me up and drop me off as I can't drive and it's her turn for lunch, looking forward to a change.:T
Dd and dh off early this morning. We are getting up earlier with the light mornings and going to bed earlier with the dark nights, I feel like we are in full winter mode.
I slipped off the wheat free wagon last night by having a piece of pizza, I just couldn't resist. Will be back on it today, will probably have stomach ache
A busy weekend with DGS trick or treating tomorrow as he is at his dads tonight.
Meeting our dd new chap tomorrow night, he will pop in as they are off to a party. She has been seeing him six months and about to introduce him to DGS. I'm hoping this ones a keeper.
Is it just my imagination or is Halloween much more full on this year with a lot more stuff in the shops? Maybe it's because DGS is living here
Dinner tonight Thai green chicken curry just for the two of us as everyone else is out. I shall make double and freeze half.
Tomorrow i shall do a huge pan of chilli so that everyone can help themselves as they are coming and going.
I really need to get moving with my Christmas pressies as I shall be useless after my op on 25 th Nov:eek:
Anyway better get a wriggle on. Have a good day xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.
Working hard to get rid of our debt.0 -
Morning all,
more ironing today and if the weather holds I can rinse through the jumper mountain. I'd tried washing weekly but the machine wasn't full for each load as my machine is large, so I tried waiting till there was a complete load and found I'd got an ironing mountain (21 items). I think I'll go back to weekly-ish as that suited me, and fiddle with the environmental controls again.
Dinner is chicken from the freezer and a rhubarb pie that has lurked in there long enough. DH found it in a yellow sticker pile, I think it's mostly shop pastry which even the birds won't eat.
Halloween ... the evening before All Hallows day (All Saints) and 2nd November is All Souls day. The students across the road decided to stand in the street screaming last night - maybe they were practising for tonight's festival of American culture. Yaay...not.
Breakfast time I think.
Have a great day xI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Morning all
Pay day today so transferred money into the joint account to pay the bills.
I have a voucher from S'bugs offering £15 off an online shop so may give that a try, but not sure if I need £60 of supermarket shopping this month.
Plans today include going into town for hospital appointment and I shall shop for yarn, yes I do have boxes of the stuff, but I don't have any bright yellow and as I'm knitting minions, I NEED yellow.
RRuby, how horrible.
LW hope you hear about another furry lodger soon.
Molly I hope you aren't over doing it.
Have a good day everyone

Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Light cloud, very wet underfoot but not raining now.
DH up and gone to work stupid early.
Dinner last night was a hurried casserole and dumplings, new pots and veg, DH got away from work and I was serving the food on to the plates when he walked in, so we ate got showered and changed and got away decent time. Had a good time and enjoyed it very much. Forgot how much I like going to the theatre.
Dinner tonight I think will be lasagne - haven't made one in months - DS2 commented the other day and asked if we could have it for dinner 1 night this week, so that's what we'll have. Today will be spent doing all the normal chores etc, had hoped to get another line of washing dry outside but not sure if that's going to happen. May see if I can get some more sorting done in DS2's room and bag up some clothes to take to the recycling van, will only do it though if I can take enough to make some money.
Have got to go and get a new passport photo taken as my photocard for my driving licence expires in December, no details have changed I don't look particularly different but have to have a new photo and part with another £20 for the privilege!
Better crack on, as I'm still in my pj's, need to get another cuppa, shower, dressed, brekkie then face the day.
Keep safe and well x
