VSC Robin Hood Airport Doncaster PCN

Hi
I have received a Parking Charge Notice from the Vehicle Control Services for pulling in just outside Robin Hood Airport on 23/10/13. The letter states I must pay £100 within 28 days but if I pay within 14 days I only need to pay £60. The letter has two pictures of my car pulled in with a date and time stamp on the picture. I have been reading a lot on this forum about the VSC and particularly at Doncaster airport but these threads are over 12 months old. Do I take the same stance as suggested in previous threads and ignore this "fine" or have the rules changed?
Thanks for any advice.

The info has changed to 'appeal' and then win at POPLA with certain winning words! See my signature. DO NOT IGNORE.
Search the forum for the word 'Airport' or the word 'VCS' and you will find LOADS of RECENT threads about how to word an initial challenge to VCS. There is a 'search this forum' heading on the right next to 'forum tools' just on the line above the thread list on page one of the parking forum. Change the default search to 'show posts' instead of 'show threads' as it gives more specific results, and only read the posts which are dated in the last 4 or 5 months, talking about how to appeal and beat the scammers.
Doesn't matter which Airport, by the way, read all recent posts when you do the searches.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks for your post coupon-mad. I have read the thread posted the other day about a very similar situation at Liverpool airport and have copied the 'soft letter' appeal written in that post rejecting the charge and requesting either the charge to be dropped or to send me a POPLA code. I'd imagine they will reject my appeal and send me a POPLA code? Is that what normally happens? I will do some searching and reading about completing POPLA appeals.
Thanks again0 -
Probably not and they will try and weasel the name of the driver - or as they call it now, "motorist" from you.
Take a look at:

who is just a bit further along the correspondence road than you are. Especially Post 16.
Liverpool and Robin Hood are both owned by Peel Holdings; both are patrolled by VCS in exactly the same manner - so the advice applies equally.0 -
Robin Hood is a bit weird - its unfinished really so there's loads of roundabout 'stubs' all over the place, some not even that close to the terminal. But stop in one, and someone comes round in a 4x4 and tells you to move....
All a bit weird!0 -

Nothing inherently wrong in telling you to move on. There have been terrorist happenings at airports and we do need to be vigilant.
It's "fining" people - more properly sending people invoices and threats (which can easily be defeated) that people raise objections to.
VCS paid a large sum of money for the right to patrol Liverpool Airport. I have little doubt the contract at Robin Hood is similar. Since they can only make money by people paying these "fines" that's why they issue them. Challenge each and every one.

Thanks guys for your replies. I was pulled in just off the airport site near a roundabout which is where the photograph was taken. I have sent a letter off to the company and let's see if they reply! I don't understand how that access road to the airport is private land and would have assumed it was council land as it isn't just an access road to the airport it is a through road for traffic as well which seems strange to me to be private land.0

Well it's not 'relevant land' for registered keeper liability anyway as it's likely to be covered by byelaws. You can read about this by searching in the way I suggested before, for the keyword 'relevant' (or 'Airport', or 'VCS', as I said before - but NOT all together!). This forum search works really well if you choose the unusual word, just one keyword, and change the default to 'show POSTS'.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I agree re:terrorism I guess, but being pedantic, I'd suggest its not the ideal terrorist location really - the place is empty most of the time!0 -
Being ficious I doubt Al-qaeda would be quaking in their boots over receiving a parking charge as they stopped to launch their SAM!:o
However the do try and justify these charges using this reasoning.0 -
