I booked a holiday to dominican republic around 10 months ago, we upgraded to premium seating with it being such a long flight, we fly on the 27th of November.
I have today gone on to the first choice website to print my tickets and have noticed that our seats have been pre-selected and we have 4 aisle seats all behind one another and their are no other seats showing as available.
Our daughters are 6 and 3 there is no way i'm going on a 10 hour flight with them sat with complete strangers.
I cant get through to the helpline as it is now closed, does anyone know if they will be able to resolve this i'm really annoyed and it is something i would cancel the whole holiday over if i could get my money back.
I haven't paid £1600 extra to be sat behind one another.

<insert appropriate expletive>£1600 extra
I just paid £84 for 3 BA seats. I hope the extra food and drink is worth £400 each!0 -
Wondering what school is on holiday at end of November ?John0

I have spoken to them, they refused to do anything and are adament sitting behind eachother counts as sitting together, no idea how they can do that with a 3 year old if there is turbulence and we have to be seated how am i supposed to be responsible for my own child.
As that obviously wouldn't work i've suggested they seperate us i have a seat next to my youngest daughter and my partner and our other daughter are sat behind eachother on the complete opposite side of the cabin, she is afraid of flying so it isn't going to go down very well but seems there is nothing else i can do.
I am writing a complaint anyway not that it will do much good, and i definitly wont be using first choice or Thomsons in future.0 -

No answers for you, but hopefully when you come to checkin at the desks, they might move people around.... Its been done in the past, and been done to me on VA with seats that I prebooked months before flying....0 -
Do you not have the option of choosing the seats as well, or were they all already chosen by others? I know when I've booked them before they email when the seats are released for choosing prompting you to log in and select them, having only had the email an hour I logged on to do it and most had already been chosen, must be a mad rush to book them when people get the email!0

What about trying to get two seats together in the standard seating part of the plane?
If needed you and your husband could then take turns sitting there with the youngest oneChange is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -

This might be able to be sorted out on board, because the cabin manager will want you to look after your children and not have extra work.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

I'm unsure from your posts if you have actually paid any money for 'seating together'.
You do mention £1600 but I find it hard to believe that for 4 pax on return flights you've paid £200 each per flight for 'seats together'.
Is the £1600 the total price you paid to upgrade 4 people on return flights?
Most airlines do say that they consider seats across the aisle and seats behind as 'sitting together'.
Sounds strange, but there you go.
Was there an option to pay more for 'seats together'?
If so, did you pay this?
I'm not sure how much cabin crew can do to move passengers around, especially if they have paid to choose their seats and you didn't (if, that is, you didn't).
We flew long-haul home from Goa and a 6 or 7 year old was sat behind his Mummy with his daddy being several rows further back.
I'm not sure if the parents asked the cabin crew to try to move people around.
ETA:
just re-read the title of your thread "prepaid seating problems".
Did you have the option of pre-booking your seats on-line?
If you did, did you try to do this as soon as the option was available?
From Thomson website:
"Premium Club Seat Upgrades
For even more legroom, better entertainment and complimentary drinks, upgrade to Premium Club on our long haul flights. You get more space – at least 36 inches all to yourself – and comfy leather seats with head supports. Many Premium Club seats also have foot supports. Plus, you get a 9-inch seatback TV that you can play, pause and rewind. It means you can control what you watch, with 16 movies - 8 each way - among your options.
On the food front, you’ll be served a tasty 4-course meal. As for drinks, they’re all included, too, with the exception of Champagne. You can pre-book online when you book your holiday with us – simply select Premium Club Seats during your booking. You’ll then have access to our Select your Seat service from 90 days before your return flight – allowing you to choose your own seat from a plan of the aircraft. "
If you're flying on 27/11, could you have selected your seats anytime from end of August?
If so, and you've only just gone on the website, it's not surprising that there are only odd seats dotted about the cabin.0
