If I buy all my own food, do my own washing and cooking.
Is £50 per month fair

This was discussed on a similar thread not long ago.
It comes down to what is appropriate to you & your family's individual situation. So I would ask them. No one on here can give you a figure.
Although £50 a month doesn't sound like much, I have no idea how old you are, your work situation, your parents financial concerns or what they actually want/need.
Ask your mum!0 -
Not this again!
You're not a newbie, so sorry to be harsh, but I'd just delete this and use the search function. This has been done to death on here and you won't get anything approaching a consensus, just a lot of bickering.0 -
There we go again...
What does your mum say? Do you work?0 -
If you moved in with me, £50 wouldn't cover the extra council tax I'd have to pay due to losing the single occupancy discount. Try again.0

No! You are using utilities - water, heating, lighting. Are you using your own cutlery, cooking utensils, your own washing machine? Do you own your own sheets/towels? When you cook - do you use your own condiments or just delve into the cupboard.
Have you got your own internet connection, your own tv licence etc etc etc.
Think again!0 -
What is it with all these adult children buying all their own food? Do you really never eat a meal with your parents? Or use *anything* at all from the kitchen cupboards? You have your own butter, pasta, salt, pepper, ketchup, olive oil etc etc? What a complete waste of space that must be and how confusing for everyone.
Frankly I'd rather have an extra room than £50 a month and a child who didn't want to share a meal with me.0 -
A few years ago I used to grudge giving my mum money for my 'keep', I really did. I thought she was being greedy, wanting to take all my money - didn't she know I had make up/hair do's/car/nights out/shoes/handbags to buy??
If I thought my mum would let me move back in now for the amount that she used to ask for, I'd bite her hand off! :rotfl:
Bought is to buy. Brought is to bring.0 -

Ha ha! I remember being stunned when I got my very first utility bills. I actually rung up my mum saying I thought they must have got the amount wrong and she was like, errr no that sounds normal!0 -

I bet you wouldn't really. I love my parents very much but I wouldn't move back even if they paid me! :eek:0
