Quite amazing that the people who used the card could figure out the correct PIN.0

They called me back immediately and I got to speak to someone dealing with my case, including an extension number to get through more-or-less-immediately.
My case was in a queue and they hadn't even considered it when I posted here before. Once I was in the system they dealt with it pretty efficiently, getting CCTV from the cash machines straight away. So they've refunded my money and that's the final settlement.
Thanks again to anyone who helped, and to those who didn't - well, you should probably grow up.

I haven't read that section but I think/fear you might be right. The money laundering laws give companies amazingly large room to bypass just about each and any DP legislation. Just the mere suspicion of money laundering allows them to bypass any DPA rules. And anyone with half a brain can construe a half credible money laundering case on any unusual transaction. Sharing of CCTV footage wouldn't be much different to sharing of emails or other information the "investigating party" might deem relevant.
There's a massive hole in our legislation that allows shop floor level employees in banks, and even bookies, to take the law into their own hands. They just mention the magic words - money laundering - and they are off into a world of their own. Scary, really.0 -
