That's true - forgot that. Hope things get sorted for you.0 -

That wouldn't explain how the pin was obtained in order to be used at the bookies. Additionally, nowadays you need to remove the card in order for the cash to be issued.0 -
Thiazolinedianone, I had plenty "constructive to say" on the first page if you care to read again, but I no longer believe you. Your versions of events are not convincing.
I apologise if your situation is genuine and I will make no further comments. You may question anything I say. Just be polite, otherwise you go straight on to my Ignore List, which funds a good old fashioned knees-up every Xmas. Cheers;)0 -
Well to give some resolution to this, I made a complaint in writing to HSBC citing the BCOBS statements above and some other stuff, particularly stating that it wasn't a reasonable amount of time. They called me back immediately and I got to speak to someone dealing with my case, including an extension number to get through more-or-less-immediately.
My case was in a queue and they hadn't even considered it when I posted here before. Once I was in the system they dealt with it pretty efficiently, getting CCTV from the cash machines straight away. So they've refunded my money and that's the final settlement.
Thanks again to anyone who helped, and to those who didn't - well, you should probably grow up.0 -

Glad to hear it's been resolved. Did you get any resolution to the question of how they obtained your PIN, and did you get any info from the bookie shop in question?0 -
Glad you've got it resolved. From reading other accounts, I don't think
you will get to hear about any investigations into how it happened, whether the police have been involved, etc.Thiazolinedianone wrote: »Thanks again to anyone who helped, and to those who didn't - well, you should probably grow up.0 -

I am so glad to read that this has been resolved and more importantly in your favor.
Did they disclosed any CC TV footage to you or did they give you any details of the investigations? I am just curious to know what sorts of measures the bank have in place.. it is quite reassuring to see that genuine cases get justice.0 -
So they just refunded you like that and closed the case?
Not that they have refunded you pending their full investigation?
Interestingly that you say CCTV proves your case. If I was suspicious I'd say all it proves is that it was not you at the cashpoint m/c. It proves nothing (as other posters have experienced in the past on here) about whether your card and PIN was acquired from you willingly, by your lack of care, or stolen forcibly from you.
I presume here that the bank has a picture of you on their files to compare with the cashpoint machine one?0 -
No I didn't get to see any CCTV footage, the person I spoke to (on the phone) did say that they made a couple of wrong PIN attempts to withdraw cash before getting it right, and they were clearly different people from when I made my last transaction, but that was all the information I got.
They refunded the cash a couple of days ago pending the rest of their investigations, then called to confirm it. The police said not to bother contacting Paddy Power for CCTV, they will only respond to police requests. So I'm not really any the wiser about how it happened.0
