Cancelling EE to get lower contract
So I signed up with EE last week with a 12 month SIM only deal, today they announceall new packages, either offering more data for the same price I'm paying oressentially the same package for £16 instead of £21 a month.
Long story short it's possible the only way I'll be able to get the new planis to cancel my contract (its still in the 14 cool off period), however my number only ported over yesterday so I'd need to get a PAC code to keep this before I cancelled so as to not loose it.
I'm trying to figure out the best way to do this, any thoughts? Could I get them to issue a PAC code, go into an EE store, sign up forthe new plan (which a new sim), get them to port the number over and then cancel my original contract?

Why did you sign up to a 12-month contract at the old rates last week when EE had already made a press release two weeks ago that new prices would be launched today?
I would avoid anything but a 30-day contract for 4G on any network at the moment. The currently inflated prices will plummet at some point. It's no wonder that most of EE's current contracts have a £12/month premium for 30 days compared to 12 months. They want to lock you in at today's high prices for a whole year, even after prices across the market fall (particularly after Three soon launches 4G with no surcharge).0 -

To be honest I totally hadn't seen anything about the new plans. Would have definately waited if I had. So annoyed with myself now. Can still get out of it, but only have until Sunday to cancel (14 day cool off), but as mentioned if I do that need to ensure I don't loose my number.0 -
Lots of people who sign up for 12 months of 4G will be annoyed with themselves at some point soon when the prices plummet to more reasonable levels. You can keep waiting until the next drop, but the price will subsequently fall again. At least you still have time to cancel. Even worse off are those who foolishly sign up for 24-month contracts with a disguised loan for their phone from the network. At least you took the sensible approach of a SIM-only contract.Would have definately waited if I had. So annoyed with myself now.0 -
Why would you pay £21pm for 500mb data. Madness.
You can get 500mb data for free from Ovivo. You don't need 4G if you use under 500mb.0 -
I know, its a joke they even off a 500mb plan. Never quite figured out why they gave everyone unlimited mins and texts but very little data and 4G is all about downloading data and doing it faster. The whole benefit of 4G is to use online gaming, streaming, etc all things that need more data. Anyway, seems like they are finally coming around. I wonder if there will be further discounts once Three launch 4G.Why would you pay £21pm for 500mb data. Madness.

I agree. When EE are charging £15 for 2GB of 4G data on PAYG, why do SIM-only contract customers pay more for less data?0

Hi, I would have thought that the only way to be able to port back out of the contract would be to buy out the contract.
And even then you couldn't port tmobile to tmobile....!0 -
Packages certainly don't make sense.I agree. When EE are charging £15 for 2GB of 4G data on PAYG, why do SIM-only contract customers pay more for less data?
Well I'm in discussions with them and they seem very helpful and are talking like they can switch me to one of the new plans once they find them on the system (seems like its day 1 for the new deals and they don't have all the info). However if they come back and say they can't I was thinking I could just get my PAC code, go back to Vodafone on a SIM only 30 day contract (just pick up one in store) give them the PAC code and then cancel my EE contract using the 14 day clause and then resign up again.Hi, I would have thought that the only way to be able to port back out of the contract would be to buy out the contract.
