Old Style Daily Thread October 30th

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning all.
Am up early today. Ds2 has been coughing all night. Need to wait till 8am to call the doctor and hope I can get an appointment. Of course, good luck to the doctor as ds2 is autistic & probably won't let the doctor have a look down his throat. He is coughing every 30 seconds. It's horrible. I've given him some calpol & a drink. Don't know what else to do.
Am having my 1st of many coffees. Need to then start my dailies. That is clean the litter tray, empty the dishwasher & sink drainer, put a wash load on and then have another coffee!
I've got a chicken defrosting for dinner tonight.
I have 4 carcasses in the freezer. I need to make some stock pronto!
The fish tank needs a clean today & downstairs needs a clean, tidy & Hoover.
I've wiped my bedroom window & the dehumidifier is on in there. The window was dreadful. As was the window in ds2s room. It's so damp here, it's awful. I don't know why. In my old house, the windows would get condensation, but nothing like here. They are dripping. I cleaned a load of black off all the windows when I moved in. They were disgusting.
Right, I shall hush now.
Hope everyone has a good day
Love ((((hugs)))) & spoons xxxx0 -

Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Light cloud and blue sky and dry underfoot, very light breeze here this morning. Washing on the line. Will put another load in the WM shortly.
DH up and gone to work stupid early.
Dinner last night was roast chicken pieces (I stopped off at SM and bought them on the way home last night but they were on offer so not expensive), new potatoes, cauli, carrots, peas and gravy. Remembered to get the meat out to defrost overnight so tonight we're having lamb casserole, which I have prepped and is now cooking away in the slow cooker. DH and myself are off out tonight so wanted to be organised, although he should be home early.
Work was manic yesterday morning but then slowed down in the afternoon, we'll see what today brings. Only working until lunchtime but have quite a few jobs I need to get done when I get home from work. Have just realised how close Xmas is getting and I haven't really done anything much so far, so will address the immediate jobs I need to get done, then will start sorting for that. DS1's birthday is early December too.
Keep safe and well x

Bore Da All,
Am feeling surprisingly perky after night shift - although I still have 1.5 hours to go!! Can't wait for my breakfast and will while away the 1.5 hours deciding what to haveThat said I still have to come back in tonight so may not be perky this time tomorrow
No OS today, brekkie, crossword, sudoku and sleep! Have even got a bought ready meal for tonight as had no labels on whats left in freezer and didn't fancy a surprise when I defrosted it here with nothing else to eat if it wasn't what I thought it was
I'm still trying to catch up with my 6 missing days on the thread when I was too relaxed to even read let alone post. Did I mention we had a lovely time on our hols?
If it's quiet tonight on my break, I'll make a list of jobs for my days off - these days if there's no list it don't get done - that is definately an age thing!
Catch you all later, have a good one xxx0 -
Morning all
There is a frost on the cars this morning, brrr.
Hubby has a cuppa in bed, I have one beside me.
When I fed the fish this morning, as usual the fish all swim towards the corner of the tank as soon as the see movement. I looked in to count the six new platys, I could only see 3 who had followed the general rush for food, the other 3 were milling around on the other side of the tank looking confused, they soon caught on once the flake was in the water. I also dropped in a couple of pellets for the silver dollars, they always seem to squabble over one pellet and ignore the other one.
No idea what we'll be doing today, but I do need to pop out for milk as we are very low & I need my porridge.
Have a good day everyone.

Cold here, it was a beautiful morning but it's raining now, again.
Washing on airers, DW emptied, more washing in. I've also scrubbed the filters in the extractor hood, I could smell cooking when I got up this morning, a good wash usually sorts that out.
Off to school in a mo, another busy day ahead.
HH - your fish sound very entertaining, can't remember ours ever even noticing we were there!
Mrs MH - Hope DS feels better soon, you feel so helpless don't you?
Cariad - I am the same with lists whether it's chores or shopping, I blame age too!
BBird - Hope you get your holiday booked, I was in France last year and loved it.
Have a good day everyone, take care. XX0 -
Morning all,
just waved DD off, she'll spend the morning with her mate in the city then go on home to enjoy the rest of her leave in B'rum.
Today I'll sort out the room ready for the next visitor - DS2 has a friend's wedding and is back for the weekend. Like bananas my kids - they come in bunches
Weather is cool but the sky is blue with streaky white clouds quite high up, so there's still wind up there. Not sure if I'll wash the woollies or not, but it needs doing.
Dinner tonight is from the freshly defrosted small freezer - I nearly drowned (OK, I got damp) and DD did the stubborn bits at the back :T.
SiL's birthday today, the penultimate birthday this year, then my Mum's at the start of December - I bought all the cards at the start of January and didn't lose them so I'll do that again for 2014 but this time will check the sizes to save on postage:o.
Have a great day all :j (jumping to keep warm).I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Morning :hello:
Congratulations to your daughter luxor4t :T
Miss tru's friend/boyfriend (they can't seem to decide whether to get together properly or not!) has been messing with my Christmas countdown again. Apparently, it's 620 days til Christmas.
We had a Severn Trent lorry outside for most of the day yesterday (and half of the night before). Sewer problem round the corner, but they were sorting it from our road, right in front of my house, ggrrrr. I know they have to check everything but it was so noisy.
I'm surrounded by yarn, in every shade of green and red. My poinsettias are patheticbut I'm determined to come up with my own pattern.
Miss tru has a trial day in a sweet shop today, hopefully she'll come home and say they've taken her on.
I put the heating on for an hour this morning, it's cold here. Everyone's showered and left for work, the heating's off now so I'd better have a shower before the house cools down againI'm hoping to get the housework done by 10am, I have things to organise and make and this is the first time for ages that I've had the house to myself all day.

Hi everyone,
Hope you are all well. It's a beautiful day here, I shall try to get out for a walk if it stays like this.
I've got some sewing planned and shall get something out of the freezer for dinner, I'm trying to use things up and then be more organised because I end up cramming things in and not using them.
Youngest brother rang last night to say that he thought he might have to take mum to hospital but I don't think he did ecause I didn't hear anything else. I'll ring her in a few minutes when I know she'll be awake. It's a worry because I live 200 miles away and she has been in and out of hospital since May (she had one period of several weeks where they were sending her home and she was back in the next day, that happened about 4 times). I go up at least once a month but I can't go this week, it'll have to be next.
DD flies to Iceland today for 5 days, I hope she sees a good display of the Aurora Borealis. She's been before (it's a music festival) but not managed to see the lights.0
