No sound or subtitle control on sky remote...

Had original remote for a few years so I assumed just old age when some buttons didnt always work first time. I replaced the remote and also put new batteries in the old one....all was better for about a week. Now I cannot get either control to work any sound ...volume, mute or the subtitles,?! I use the subtitles all the time as I am hard of hearing....and am probably entertaining the neighbours just now!!

The volume works fine and can be controlled on the tv itself.

Any clues or solutions??!

Is it worth asking sky for a replacement box??! Any chance of getting this free or low cost?!

Have you programmed the new remote to control your TV?
If you leave the remote without batteries for more than a few minutes it will forget the TV programming.

Hm....well...I may show myself up here... But new remote seemed to work right away...how do/should I program it?
I just changed the batteries no there has been no lengthy gap.
