Hope the London trip planning goes well..and have a good Monday x2012 The year I started dealing with my debts.

Thank you Aarmberle xxx I feel so much better in every way. Most of that is down to being able to do things for others without putting myself out financially. The fact that I can do this without the dread of the statements coming in (and the fear of OH discovering them) is so uplifting. I know there's no truly selfless deed (I'm getting a boost from doing these things) but that's okay with me. I can quite happily continue like this forever

The addict in me has found a new fix and it's fantastic

Grrrr teens slept in too! Didn't have time to drop them off so without thinking gave them bus fare. There goes my NSD
BUT it was under £2, one slip up won't ruin the entire month. I ended up spending anyway, got a fantastic 90% off the train tickets to London so I'm still a low spender. I'll just have to see if I can ensure Tuesday and Wednesday are NSDs and get back on track. There are still 26 days ahead to get my 14 NSDs and hit my target and I'm already in a better place than previous months by having just one NSD in the bag.
Still feeling pretty damn positive

Just popping in quickly to say...I finally had my bath

Not a sound from children, two hours of peace and pampering! Pure bliss and it even helped my aching leg. Definitely a good day all round

Grrrr cold, wet, miserable day and the leg is horrendously painful
I was in pain before I even got out of bed. Which in turn means I'm in a foul mood.
I'm trying to find the bright side. At least I can't walk to the shops and spend anything. I am, however, thinking of escaping work early. Luckily I have a flexi-time contract so I can leave at 3.30...if I ever get through the huge list of work for today.
So a thoroughly grumpy and self-indulgent start for me. Hopefully I can post something more positive later

Much better mood now

Cheered up massively by a NSD (who'd have thought it!), hubby has turned our bedroom from a cross between an eBay shipping department and student digs into a mildly untidy adult room and I forgot I'd put the slow cooker on this morning so came home to a delicious beef casserole and no cooking
he's even dug out my thickest, ugliest fleecy PJs for me. No one mentioned being thin means that you are cold ALL THE TIME! He didn't know I was feeling crappy but he's even rescued the last triple chocolate muffin (from last night's yellow sticker frenzy
) from the clutches of the four human dustbins I affectionately call my children.
Friend is massively excited about our trip to London and can't get the grin off her face. It's been so long since I've seen her so happy or excited about anything which was enough to see off my grumpy mood.
Ordinarily a midweek night would involve sitting around, eating and drinking rubbish but instead I'm about to catch up on Strike Back with hubby (been looking forward to this for months!) and then snuggle up in my ugly yet warm PJs with a smile on my face at being one day closer to being debt free

hi kate well done for ignoring your leg and having a no spend day:j can't really relate to how painful your leg must be except to say a cow kicked me and boke my arm a few years ago and I went to AandE but both the radiologist and the junior doctor missed the fracture on the xray(I saw it later not sure what they were looking at it was obvious!) and they sent me home and told me to use it as much as possible:eek:! 3 weeks later in mucho pain I went back and they realised their mistake! I asked if it was healing and they said yes so I never bothered with a cast ! so really they did me a favour as I never had to stop driving!but it was bloody painful and very tiring due to the pain .
take care and keep warm!

Thanks Ecofarmer. It's now 6 months since the break (freak bone snapping incident 300 miles from home!) and I'm still suffering
it's so so slow to get better, before the break I was running 10-12 miles a week, rarely sat down from getting out of bed to getting back in and I was too independent for my own good! Suddenly I couldn't stand up long enough to make a coffee let alone carry it somewhere so I could sit down and drink it!
I'm having a REALLY bad debt day. Saw hubby for 15 minutes due to his night shifts and had a row over debts. What seemed perfectly possible yesterday now feels insurmountable and I really really want to run away from everything. Nothing in particular has happened (other than the argument) but I'm feeling full of doom and gloom and very sorry for myself. Since he left I've been fighting back tears. Is this the way it's going to be forever?
I realised earlier I've cleared £930 this month already and can make it the magic thousand before payday on 25th. I've spent absolutely nothing yesterday and today and planning ahead I can do the same tomorrow and Friday but none of that eases the feelings of being failure and a fool.
I hate feeling so negative but I want this to be a full and honest record of my journey to freedom from debt so here it is. Not a positive and inspiring post, not a look to the future full of optimism and enthusiasm, just me, sitting alone in my kitchen fighting back tears of self-pity and anonymously pouring my heart out.
I won't give up, I'm not really even started and I WILL get to see the magic zero balances one day it's just there's a cloud covering the light at the end of the tunnel right now.

Thank you for taking the time to reply xxx it's almost more than mine too! I was so proud of it a few hours ago!
I think the situation has made me consider lots of things and I'm beating myself up enough for this let alone someone else grabbing hold of the stick too.
It's a rare moment that I'm not thinking about the debt and more ways to cut spending. How I ran it up isn't important, it's there now, but it wasn't all champagne lunches, caviar suppers and shopping sprees in John Lewis! There were a few big purchases we needed and general living and overspending and lack of budget got out of control. I'll pay back every penny, after all I spent it and I'll be back to my chirpy self in no time. I just need this day to be over and a fresh approach.LBM 17th Oct13 - SC DMP - DFD 10th Feb 2018
