  • You're doing great, stay focused :)
  • I wrote a long reply yesterday and it's not here!

To recap, much better frame of mind yesterday. Did some grocery shopping and came in under budget (including some treats for mini-sprogs) a trip to the park was rained off but that was a blessing in disguise as the leg was pretty bad cue a day on the sofa punctuated with six (yes, really :() loads of washing!

I also said the N-word to DD2 when she asked for a McD's. She didn't bat an eyelid and we had a pizza night instead. In fact both mini-sprogs were fantastic. They took control of crossing off the shopping list and didn't ask for anything directly though Santa has a few things added to his list!

I've woken up feeling positive again. Hoping hubby will take the kids out so I can tackle some study or the ironing in peace.

Ebay sales end today and at least 3 of the 19 listings will sell. I'd like a few more things to go and a few more bids on those 3 but the pennies soon add up and at the current bids and sales already made I've made almost £60 since my LBM from things that I didn't need!

Thank you for all your comments and support. It means so much to me. I'm on a long road and it'd be pretty lonely without you cheering me on with every small step I take. I feel I've changed but to have it said "out loud" gives me a huge boost to keep going on the harder days. When I think back to last year the changes are so enormous! I was looking forward to buying whatever I wanted for whoever I wanted and looking at my CCs as how much I could spend. This year I'm looking at making my children happy and paying off my debts. Who knows where I'll be next year! The plan was to have paid everything off st this point next year and be debt free but I know life has a nasty way of laughing at our plans. Whatever happens I KNOW my debts will be lower and my attitude has changed and that is NOT to be sniffed at :)

  • And whilst I was typing a reply I got another ebay bid :D up to nearly £15 profit now! :D

I can grab packaging materials from the office tomorrow and the postage costs are within 10p of royal mail website quotes so that £15 is all mine to pay off debts, a drop in the ocean but nevertheless it's money I've made instead of spent. I never thought it'd make me THIS happy to dig a pile of old maternity clothes out the loft and get rid of them :) I'm suddenly very pleased I'm not a follower of Haute Couture and bought things that were simple and didn't date over the last five years :D

no point losing your job for £15!
  • Yes, I always ask first. Like you say no point in risking my job over a few brown envelopes. It's never been an issue before but always best to check and should the answer be no I'm sure I can rustle something together at home. I hate waste so there's probably a stack of things hanging around that I could use :)

  • have subscribed we have roughly the same amount of debt as each other and the same time frame hopefully we can encourage each other along :j

    eco
    debt free 1st October 2016
  • Good luck Ecofarmer. I wish neither of us were in this situation but it's easier to travel with people in the same boat. We can do this together.

Despite sleeping in (how???) It's a good day so far. EBay sales went better than expecte. £78 in total! I know it's already spoken for and that's fine with me. The fact that it was there at all makes my life easier. Once the postage is paid there's enough left to cover the shortfall in childcare and DS1s school shoes (the nees for both arose yesterday:() I wish I was paying it off debts but I'm looking at this as not creating more or eating into the grocery budget.

As these are unavoidable costs and coming from money gained in excess to income if I can spend nothing else I'm classing this as NSD 2 of 15. They are not extras on top of the budget as they had to be paid this month (I just wasn't sure where the cash was coming from). I hope that fits into the remit of the NSD challenge. Especially as I was only expecting £15 profit from eBay this time yesterday!

I'm actually really looking forward to today. I have a good friend who has supported me through the worst parts of my LBM and she turns 30 next month. She has problems if her own and I wanted to make her birthday special. After a bad experience during last weekend's London trip I've been offered a refund and complimentary revisit. So I've asked her to go with me. Our transport will be less than £20 each (she's paying her own) and I know my way around so today we're going to plan the trip! She's never been to London, I can do the same as last time and set a budget but for me it's all about seeing my friend happy and having something to look forward to without breaking the bank. It feels so good to be able to make someone happy and all without splashing the cash or going off track.

I feel like it's all coming together at last. Still 3 weeks to payday but I'm not destitute and afraid and I know exactly how I'll manage these week, that's a new and novel feeling in itself!

So it's Monday morning, it's freezing cold, I've slept in and my bank account would laugh at me if it could but I'm having the last laugh. A brighter future, things to look forward to and good times ahead without a debt in sight.
