And just to add...it's 3 days until payday and I have £40 in the bank!!!! This hasn't happened in years! I need some for parking at the hospital on Thursday and SW that night but that'll be under £10! If I could jump up and down right now I would but my leg hurts so I'll settle for a jumping smiley :jLBM 17th Oct13 - SC DMP - DFD 10th Feb 2018

I've had the same experience since I started debt-busting, Kate - my husband (the credit card debt is in his name) is being inundated with offers of increased credit limits, 0% balance transfers, personal loans, new credit cards. Needless to say they are all being shredded
but I feel the same, we must be doing something right :T
I have about fifty quid left until payday, with another week to go. I hate January ...0 -
Woo hoo it's payday! It's also goodbye credit card day! Okay so I need to do the maths before I pay but it's 99% certain it's going today

I had a crazy day yesterday, work, hospital, DD1 parent evening then SW meeting. Parent evening was excellent, a smattering of A's and A*'s expected in June and at SW my weight has stayed exactly the same.
Now, hospital. Having such a busy day involved lots of driving so no painkillers. By the time I saw a doctor I was climbing the walls with pain. This time it was ANOTHER different doctor, this time a consultant surgeon. I don't know what I was expecting but being examined and finding that a part of the leg that wasn't too bad can create a whole new type and level of pain when touched a certain way was not on the agenda.
Whilst his patient rapport wasn't great this doctor was good. He explained all my x-rays, blood test and scan results and what they mean. He's also explained that as things are it isn't going to get any better. He's convinced that the metal is causing the issues so the best option is to remove the lot. I'm now waiting for a call for a pre-op assessment and then I'll be given a date for surgery. Could be 18 weeks but it's going to happen.
I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it. I'm afraid of the surgery, I'm relieved that I'm not imagining the problem, I'm scared of how I'll cope with life in the recovery period and I'm happy that there's some hope. So I'm in a bit of a whirlwind. All I do know is that I'm willing to try almost anything to get better. And on a slightly more light hearted note, think of all the lovely NSDs I can grab as I recover
So I'm back to waiting. This is something I'm obviously quite good at. It's almost 9 months since the break, the consistent advice has been "wait and see" and "don't push it too hard". I've followed doctors advice at every turn so it's just a little more waiting and behaving and a little bit of hope but much like my debt free journey the end is in sight.
Now for another positive. I did it, I got the books out of the box and I finished the last module and started another! Three hours of reviewing things I already know (dull as dishwater) but I'm pushing through. The module I'm working on is very basic compared to what I do at work. At first I was frustrated and angry but as a good friend pointed out it's an easy win.
The three days ahead are mapped out. Today I have the meeting with my boss and I'm finishing at 3.30 to visit a friend who is ill then home for a takeaway and games night with the kids. Tomorrow I'm going to power through this study module then have a snuggly movie marathon with the small children and I've been invited out for lunch on Sunday with a friend. We're going to the pub he works at and making use of his 50% discount. Somewhere in there I'll fit in some housework but after my "20 minutes" last week there's not too much to do.
I'm feeling pretty good. I've got some real hope for a better future ahead. I'm going to be surrounded by my loved ones all weekend and despite everything I feel really lucky.
Thank you all for your support

Hi Kate
I've read your diary from start to finish this morning and want to say how touched I was by your openness and honesty on how hard and difficult this journey sometimes is for you. I am sure you will reach your destination in the end as you seem to have the right mindset to ensure you dont give up whatever life throws at you. Well done so far and I wish you well for the future.0 -
How bizarre. I too stumbled across your diary today and have just read end to end. I think it's totally inspirational specially as I'm stuck at home recovering from knee surgery and indulging in pity parties. I wish I had your get up and go!
