No, being without a camera is not a significant inconvenience. They are repairing it within 28 days which is (IMO) a reasonable timeframe before they replace it.

There is no law, statue or guarantee that will enable you to walk in and get a replacement at this point.

Thanks. my concern is if this keeps going on until the warranty runs out and then they say its out of warranty sorry go away

Cameras back in for the third repair for the same issue. ie it was never fixed in the first place. i rang currys yesterday expecting an update as its taken approx ten days to be "fixed"and sent back. two weeks after taking it in its still in curtys awaiting the packaging from samsung. so if it goes over 28 days (is that working days?) i can adk for a replacement? the guy in currys did adk samsung for a replacement but they refused and offered another fix

whats my legal standing re the 28 day rule. what does it come under?

the 28 day rule is policy (of manufacturer or currys) rather than law. Law simply states that repairs/replacement must be carried out within a reasonable time and without causing significant inconvenience.

How long has it been away for repair in total.

Id say about 30 days all added up. currys just rang me and said they have contacted the repairer direct and have sent it off today as samsung are dragging their feet

You should have it on your paperwork and unless they've changed the wording it should say 28 days.

The 28 days is measured from when you drop it off to when it is received back in store (or when its on it's way back for some items).

So if you dropped it off on the 1st and it came back on the 10th and you picked it up on the 15th, that counts as 10 days, not 15. If you find it's still faulty on the 17th and take it back on the 17th and it comes back on the 27th to the store that is 20 days total, not 27.

And the 28 days is inclusive of weekends.
