TMobile Friends & Family Discount
Does anyone else here receive a TMobile Friends & Family discount? Mine started in circa 2002 and has been 50% thus far. My friend who started this contract for me has since left TMobile.
I am due an upgrade - currently I have an iPhone 4S on an iPhone 60 contract. I am thinking of getting the iPhone 5s. The only TMobile 3g option is for 3000 minutes+750mb data+500 texts for £61 (which is £30.50 with a 50% discount).
The other option is to transfer to 4gee, where all the price plan options are unlimited calls and texts, with only the data varying. The max price is £51 for a price plan. However, transferring to EE means the discount will lower to 40%. This might be okay - but does anyone know if by transferring to EE I will lose my friends & family discount at my next upgrade (as my friend no longer works there)? Any other glitches I should be wary of?
With thanks

If your friend isn't still there there's a chance the discount will get removed even if you stay with T. They do audit the F+F plans from time to time.
I'd think it would almost certainly fall off if you move to EE as the code used to enable the discount will have been voided when your friend left T (but you never know!)...0 -
Thankyou Jon 01
I am speaking to a very helpful lady in the Upgrade team who just looked into this for me.
Initially she told me that as far as she knew, I would not be able to maintain my discount with EE if the person who set up the Friends & Family discount is no longer employed by TMobile.
She then went to check this with EE who said it would actually be maintained. I asked for this in writing. She managed to get something in writing, but it was rather limited and only regarding the current upgrade. I asked for something in writing to say my 40% discount would be maintained in the long term. She was then told after talking to the EE person again, that it would not be possible to maintain the discount if the person who set it up had left. I forgot to check if this would effect my current upgrade (now they are aware it is not attached to a current employee) or from my next one.
She is going to look into any options of keeping my discount. I shall report back.
If anyone has any experience of this, any info would be great0 -
ps. Jon 01, do you mean that this discount with EE may not go through on this upgrade (ie. when it should kick in from the 2nd month) or for future upgrades (ie. after this potential 24 month contract ends)?0

If your mate isn't an employee any more and the acc gets audited the discount will get removed. Its only valid while your friend is still there.
They guys on the frontline can't give you much info as they aren't the one's that run the F+F or do the audits. That's all back office staff.
Personally, I wouldn't do anything with it. Trying to get an upgrade through may flag the acc in someones system and if they look at it and note that its no longer valid it could get removed. On the other hand, I've known people continue to get it for years....0 -
Depends on the discount type and when you got it.
When i worked there the discount was 50% and was for life so even if the person left you keep the discount.
I still have friends with this discount after I left 2 years ago. This discount is on your account as 'Employee Call'
They later changed the discounts so anyone getting after a certain date will lose it on upgrade if the person has left.
Best bet is call 150 and ask them does your discount show as 'EMPLOYEE CALL' or '50% Discount'
If its the later you will lose it I think.... if its the 1st you should keep it0 -
I think you will find post 6 is correct, I have a f&F plan and from what I recall if you got it before 2008 the 50% is for life.ANURADHA KOIRALA ??? go on throw it in google.0

Good point, the start date is a factor.
But even so, that's only relevant if the op stays with T, if they move to EE then its a new network with new rules...0 -

Did you keep your upgrade?0
