How lovely for you and your family - it restores my faith - as I've never won more than a tenner I'd decided that these "winning amounts" were all an illusion!

And the amount you've won is just the right amount to spend on treating yourselves - enjoy x

Happy days indeed, looks like luck was on your side.

Out of interest how much have you spent on scratch cards to date? you winnings might not be as much as they seem if you net it off.

As mentioned now spend it in a sensible(ish) way.

  • Aww how lovely for you! It must give you a great moral boost and also the bank balance!

You must be so pleased, and I hope your hubby will be thrilled too. Enjoy a treat, but still be savvy with it and it will go towards a brilliant Christmas and a little holiday perhaps.

It's really nice to know of someone who wins these big amounts, I've never known anyone win one before, so well done!

    Well done
About twelve years ago I won the same amount on a free online scratchcard game (Tombola's 5 gold bars for anyone interested)-unlike you I had several sleepless nights before I found out if it was all mine or if I had to share.
Life was really crappy at the time I was nursing my Mum after a brain anurism, my son had just been diagnosed with Aspergers and my husband and I had split up.

I couldn't keep quiet and had to tell my Mum before I burst (really wanted to wait til I knew how much) and told her I'd give her 10% (money was really tight for both of us). When I won I gave her £1,000 to clear her creditcard- and paid for new flooring for the bathroom and loo in her house ( we were living there too) and just enjoyed not having to watch every penny -I didn't *need* anything huge - it was just lovely not to have to scrimp and worry.

Enjoy spending your win and I hope everyone is much better very soon !!

Thanks everyone. It is finally starting to sink in. I don't usually buy them- mayb once or twice a year and even then I usually just get one. That won't change now, I have no intention of giving this money back to Camelot!
I have just left the hospital, hubby cried when I told him (he was already in an emotional state). Fortunately we have no real debts and a little saved, so we can enjoy the money. So far we have agreed to £500 each to spend on ourselves as we choose, something for the kids, perhaps a few extra treats at christmas and leave the rest for a rainy day. OH wants a kindle and my Ipod has died but nothing else springs to mind.
