I expect the fone to be locked to whatever provider ASDA have it to. You might be lucky and find it unlocked. If its locked and provider isnt Vodafone, then you will probably find you cant use it.

Don't spend five pounds to dry clean a shirt. Donate it to the charity shop instead. They'll clean it and put it on a hanger. Next morning buy it back for two pounds.
  • Hey Pks, thanks for the quick response.

I thought that ASDA was using Vodafone as its network provider and hoping that the sims would be compatible ?

I believe they also use t-mobile. Well that what it says online http://www.asda-phones.co.uk/

So I guess you got 50% chance. What you could do is verify what provider they are using when you decide on what fone to buy.

If its a Vodafone deal then that phone/card should be locked to Vodafone and so I expect a another Vodafone sim to work on that.

I have not heard of anything where its locked depending on whether its PAYG or Contract.

If for whatever reason it doesnt work, you can always take the fone back.

    Hi,

I wouldnot touch a Asda sim card.

Everything about the service is cheap and nasty. The sim card is made of thin plastic and willnot last if you swop your sim between devices a lot.

The staff have not got a clue about anything thats not written in the instruction booklet. Even three staff in Indian do there jobs better.

I ported my number over from O2 and I ended up on Vodafone. They gave me £4 credit for losing my service for the day.

I cannot get there data service working for love or money on two different phones.

They send you a text message everyday for the 1st week that jams my phone up. I have to reboot it each time.

The signal strength is much weaker than if you if compare to a Vodafone Pay and go sim card. I have just spend a week with no service on holiday. My Vodafone card worked perfectly.

Everything Asda every do, doesnot work.....but hey its cheap!
