ASDA being nearby is the key. Unlike the others ASDA sells for the same price in all its garages, so supermarket fuel tends to be more expensive where there is no ASDA.0

"With cars ever more fuel efficient, tax revenue from fuel is way down on what they used to get. "
I'm not sure if this is right. I rather thought revenue was going down as people simply couldn't afford to drive as much.
I would welcome a source either way thoughMixed Martial Arts is the greatest sport known to mankind and anyone who says it is 'a bar room brawl' has never trained in it and has no idea what they are talking about.0 -

Agreed
Having an Asda will bring down the price of fuel.0 -

Shows you the strength and power of these supermarkets . Sell it cheaply at not profit making , but recoup your losses through the store shop. They are usually cheap when near another competitor . Supermarkets on their own in a area their prices will be same and high as others .0

Don't be fooled into thinking they don't make profit on it.
I remember reading an article on marketing years ago which mentioned supermarket fuel. It stated supermarkets such as Asda undercut rivals by a fraction of a pence to give the impression that the whole store was better value, not just the fuel.
There's a Lime garage that I pass on my way to work that's always got queues, reason being, same price as Asda.0 -

I wonder what proportion of people actually do this? I bought Morrisons fuel for the best part of three years but virtually never used their main store. My decision on where to buy fuel and where to buy food are entirely separate. As above, I seriously doubt supermarkets don't make profit on fuel.0
