trying to cancel DEO

Short and sweet but, after 5 years of no contact at all with my ex (suits me fine), he has started messaging me regarding the CSA.
First one said he was going to be paid monthly so could i cancel CSA involvement and him pay me direct. Knowing him like i do i smelt something fishy. As usual i ignored the message.
Then, last week he started trying to contact me urgently via any means he's not been blocked through. He even phoned my mum!!!!!
FF to this morning he sent me a message via FB (created new account) .
This message basically said he had rang CSA up and told them we were now amicable and want to sort it alone, without their involvement . And that he was currently not working.
I ignored it but rang them up asap. I explained and they said they'd ring back. 10 mins later they phoned. And told me;
1) He has not rang them at all in almost two years.
2) The DEO is still running with no changes.
3) A check with tax office (IR) shows him as still very much employed.
4) Quick phone call to his work confirms he is currently off sick, followed by annual leave.
So he has been waffling BS for the last few weeks trying to get me to cancel CSA involvement.
He is very devious and sometimes clever. He v manipulated me for 9 years, so to begin with i believed him. Now i know he was bottom talking I'm kind of wondering why?
He earns decent money ( i get 400 pm for 2 ). He owns his own house and enjoys a decent standard of living. He wouldn't risk losing his job, so that's a lie.
I'm after the first thought that pops into someones head as to why he is keen to remove DEO.
Can i add he says he still wants to pay, the same amount as now, just direct to my bank.
I know what i suspect, just want confirmation.
Thanks!!!!! And sorry for super long post, just confused xxxx

He may be thinking about the upcoming migrations to CSA3 in which if you and he don't reach an agreement, he will be charged an extra 20% and you will be charged 7%. That's not good for either of you.
But as you have 2 children, it is not expected for you to be in the first wave of migrations. The perceived wisdom is that everyone will be on CSA3 in the next year or two.0 -
There is that.....i dont mind paying.
My thoughts were he may have landed a promotion/pay rise at work and wants the DEO removed before hand.
They told me earlier they wouldn't remove his DEO ever even if i requested it. Which i wouldn't.
Hmmm will see what happens next, threats, blackmail or something i expect? Xx
Thanks v for the help xxxxThe feeling i got when i confirmed my place studying criminology at Exeter Uni was brilliant!!!!!

On the 2012 scheme the collection charges are going to be 20% for NRPs, and 4% for PWCs.
If one client wants direct pay, and the other doesn't, then providing they're deemed likely to pay then it couldn't be refused...of course, if the payments didn't flow straight through then it would revert to a collect and pay situation.0 -
He may have some concerns about his employer. If the money is deducted from his pay but not paid to CSA by his employer (eg if the company goes into administration) then your ex would have to pay again. If he is getting less pay due to sickness or reduced working hours he may be worried that the DEO will not take the full amount which will leave him in arrears. Perhaps he knows that he is about to change his job and he wants to minimise disruption to the child support payments, or maybe he just wants a fresh start at being responsible. Perhaps he wants to apply for a mortgage or loan and he would like the bank to see his full salary going into his account every month (even if part of it then gets paid out to support his children). There are lots of reasons why someone would not want to pay by DEO.0

20% of what? It's not 20% of their wages is it? Is it 20% of the assessment? Where does the 20% go to?0 -

It is an extra 20% of the assessment value. For example, if you are assessed to pay £100, you will pay £120 to the CSA. The CSA will take £24 and pay the remaining £96 to the PWC.0 -
Reasons i commonly see people wanted to remove a DEO are thus, Firstly a DEO is pretty much the only way we can get CM to yourself without the consent of the nrp, so if he doesnt want to pay but tells you he does, this could be a reason why he wants it dropped.
Secondly is some nrps dont want there employers to know there financial status and outgoings, I once had a person who worked in a major financial advisory in london who earnt what we called "the cap" meaning over 2k net per week, you can imagine someone in this profession doesnt want people to know they were forced into paying for children when they advise people how to spend their money
Thirdly could be were taking regular maintenance and arrears, if you come to a private arrangement we ask if you want the arrears collected or suspended, if we suspend them, youll only get regular CM.
Most of the time its just they dont want to pay and know while a DEO is in place unless they psyically leave that employer they cannot get out of it. My advice is to stick to the DEO at all costs, you wouldnt imagine the times ive had pwcs crying on the phone as the nrp has not paid anything after a private arrangement was offerd and a DEO lifted, then we have to go back to the start and re-implement one.0 -
Thanks for all responses. I know this guy inside out. He does not do anything unless it's going to be good for himself.
I find it odd he lied about speaking to the CSA last week when he hasn't. If he is lying about that then what else?
I personally think he has had a pay raise or promotion. He has no intention of seeing our children and seems more interested in having contact with me.
Csa told me they will not be removing the deo at all due to his financial situation.
He is very slippery and im that paranoid he will go to an my lengths to get out of deo I've had a note on the system that if i ( or someone claiming to be me) rings them, they have to ring me back.
Odd man, i was happy with $40 pw when we first spit.......... lol xThe feeling i got when i confirmed my place studying criminology at Exeter Uni was brilliant!!!!!

Theres nothing he can do to lift it unless he gets your consent to go maintenance direct, so dont have any worrys on that score.0
