Wheelie bins stolen

Two of my wheelie bins appear to have been stolen during the storm. What can I do? I don't want to have to buy new ones.

Stolen as in someone entered your garden and took them, or stolen as in you left them somewhere unsecured and they blew away0
-
I don't have anywhere to secure them, so they sit in front of the house every day, the same as the neighbours next to me.
It could be they are stolen, it could be the wind blew them away but I would have expected to find them. I think someone has taken advantage of the situation.0 -
There were a lot of bins "stolen" in our village during the storm. Within a few minutes of them being emptied they had disappeared. Most turned up over hedges or in ditches up to 100 metres from their owner's houses.
But at least if you had your house number on them, you'll be able to spot yours if someone else locally has them.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -
We recently had a blue bin delivery, so sadly I hadn't got around to painting my numbers on0

I guess it will vary between different councils, but when one of my bins was stolen I contacted my local council (Lincoln City) who were extremely helpful and arranged to deliver a new bin a few days later at no cost.
My original bin reappeared months later with all 4 sticky numbers roughly removed outside my chavvy neighbours house.0 -
Have you checked your council's website? They may replaced stolen or damaged bins, provided that you did not cause the damage yourself.
My council replaced my recycling box when it was stolen, and my recycling wheelie bin when it was damaged. I think they have a limit on how frequently they will do this. All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -
I've checked the council site, and I don't know if I should put lost in the storm or stolen? The site asks for how the bin has been damaged only,0

I'd go for "lost in the storm". You've no proof it was stolen, and they might want a police report.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?

Mine "went missing" a few months ago..just phoned my council and they replaced it 3 days later..got a tin of gloss paint out and have now put my house number all over them and even the road name on them.. now looks a bit chavvy but hopefully they wont "go missing" again
Someone at work had the same last year and the the bin men told him that sometimes they end up in the back of the cart and get crushed not quite sure how this happens tho?0
