Worth noting that the two (positive) reviews on MyBuilder have almost identical wording to each other... would have raised my eyebrows at the least. Hindsight is wonderful, though, as Doozergirl points out.
He actually doesn't any reviews whatsoever on MyBuilder. The two 'reviews' are actually client references taken by MyBuilder. Tradesman often use such client references before they have real reviews for jobs won on MyBuilder.
I always ignore any client references as far too many are fake.Everyone is entitled to my opinion!0

surely only you can know wether you stand a fighting chance or not , not a bunch of well meaning strangers on the net?Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0

I thought you paid him £300"We act as though comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about” – Albert Einstein0

Doozer girl, I like you;) but don't put them all in one bag !
my company is plastering orientated and its name shouts plastering in capital letters ..we make the big money on it but round up from brickwork/carpentry/plumbing and anything without any faults for long time now . While we were working yesterday in central London, the owner walked on a pipe and started to leak... we were busy to help so he called emergency plumber 160.00 to stop the leak... by the time he came he spent half hour and just made it worse We finished plastering and within 5 minutes put a service valve there ending the plumbers fight with it !! some people are not made for building work, call them decorators or whatever you want to! emergency plumber had exelent website, brand new van and knew rubbish about plumber...soo good was his website that he was top of the list on the web!!0

Lumja, this guy has been banned from my builder now. You should put that in your claim, clearly he isn't trustworthy.
You will get your £65 back, as long as you can find him. Are mybuilder helping you?
Radsteral, thanks , point noted, there are lots of multitalented people out there. This is one guy, using painting and decorating as his title, chasing little jobs, that must be different to you? According to mybuilder he fits floors, tiles and is a handyman. That does make me sigh a bit at his potential capabilities if I were personally looking. , point noted, there are lots of multitalented people out there. He only joined in Oct 13 so can't even have had much feedback on that website at the time. Ultimately, the client hasn't done their due diligence, which is a horrid shame.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

thanks u all, Yes I paid him 300 but you have no idea the living room and the bedroom, where ever he did lay the floor he made mistakes you can see it how the plaques come apart,I can not explain it in my own language let alone in English he ruined my floor, and why not go for the whole cost of my floor? if he can do that to me single mum with 3 kids:eek: linda0

Is it new flooring? Are you claiming for the actual floor as well? Do you have receipts etc? That is the sort of thing that might be harder to claim for.
Did someone else fix it for you?Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

OP, I realise that English is not your first language, but if you are going to make a successful civil claim then you need to limit yourself to the facts when you make your claim. The court is not concerned with your marital status or number of kids.
If you don't have much in the way of documentation then it will be your word against his in court, if he turns up. Trying to recover for consequential loss (cost of the new laminate) will be more difficult than just trying to recover his labour charge of £300.
And the fact that judgement is awarded in your favour does not mean that he will pay up. If not you may have to resort to bailiffs, which will involve extra costs for you.
I'm not saying that you shouldn't make a claim, but consider the worst possible result before you do.No free lunch, and no free laptop 0 0
