New washing machine - Indesit or Hoover?

My Bosch washer packed in yesterday ( bearings) so time to get a new one, after talking to engineer and realising how difficult and expensive it is to get some parts. I have looked around the net and have narrowed it down to an Indesit or a Hoover model (parts cheaper and easier to get hold of apparantly). Has anyone any experience of these two makes-good or bad? They're not expensive around £200, so I guess you get what you pay for anyway....

Don't go for Hoover, I have a candy washer and hoover is part of candy now, the service men are rubbish, well the one I have had sent to my house is anyway!0 -
I just replaced a hoover where the control unit had gone after 16 months. The chap I had round to make the repair said that Bosch or Indesit seem to be the better manfacturers, but mirrored your findings on the Bosch parts and also added that he had seen a lot of hoover's breaking down with the same faults as mine lately.
I went to the coop electrical site and picked up an Indesit for £214.00 and it's much quieter than the other one too...0 -
Another vote for indesit here.0

I used to be on first name terms with the Hoover washing machine repair man! :rotfl:
Mind you, my last Indesit got taken away as a 'lemon' after just over a year - and replaced (under extended warranty) by another Indesit - 2 years on and not a hint of a problem (she says, touching wood!)
I'd go for the Indesit.:j Almost 2 stones gone! :j
:heart2: RIP Clio 1.9.93 - 7.4.10 :heart2:I WILL be tidy, I WILL be tidy!

I will chime in on this thread late just in case someone does a search for "hoover washing machines."
DON'T DO IT!!!
We bought a Hoover washer AND a dryer in February 06, and in six months they'd both broken down multiple times. Ended up Freecycling them and buying Bosch.
JUST SAY NO TO HOOVER!!!:beer:0 -
I think it varies a lot from model to model. I recently got a Hoover washing maching via the comet clearance site for £160 inc. P&P (rrp from Comet was about £300 if memory serves), and it's working fine so far. I opted for one with an 8kg drum, and only 1200 spin speed - the slower it spins, the less likely it is to break as far as I'm concerned!
It has a 5 year parts guarantee and of course the usual 12 month warranty.0 -
The key words in your post are "recently" and "so far.":beer:0

Well, it's been a month - I'll post if anything goes wrong!0 -
it might be cheaper to get parts for some machines but how many times do they break down? ive just had the nightmare of my washing machine pack in and needing a new one(they only come cold fill now) and stuck to what i had last time which was hot point, once purchased we took out an extended warrranty (which my repairman, a family friend said is essential now as machines are not made to last)after that expires just buy a new machine0

Well I have had a hoover for 6 years, averaging about 3 washes a week, and it's working fine. It's not got any digital buttons/displays which I always think might cause problems!0
