iphone 5

I recently had my iphone 5 stolen and have now got a cheap phone with my iphone sim as a stop gap

I still have 18 months left on my contract with vodafone and I'm keen to get another iphone 5

This will probably seem like a daft question but how do I go about it? I'm looking on the internet and there are locked and unlocked phones but I'm not sure what that means...can I just go into a mobile phone shop and simply buy one without a contract?

can someone please point me in the right direction...cheers

AFAIK all iPhones from shops will automatically lock to the first network they connect to. Only phones from Apple directly are truly 'unlocked' and don't do this.

    Thank you grumbler, much appreciated
  • You can not buy a iPhone 5 from the Apple shop anymore as they don't sell them. You can get the 5c for around £460 I think it is and that is pretty much the same as an iPhone 5. May as well get the 5c for the extra £100 pound. Best phone out at the moment in my opinion. Hope this helps.

Did you activate Find My iPhone app? Can you not trace where it is? Alternatively you can set it to lock and zap all info if anyone tried to turn it on. Make sure Vodaphone have locked the sim/IMEI number too.
