I am looking into this for my father. I have tried both virgin and sky without any luck. Could anyone suggest any other companies or ways?
Thanks.
Thanks.

You will need to get an independent satellite installer to install a dish aimed at the HotBird 13 satellites. The full list of channels is here and includes 3 Egyptian channels (but I've no idea if they are the ones your father would be interested in) plus many others from the region:

There would be no ongoing fees once you've paid for the dish and receiver. As I say, a local independent satellite installer will be able to advise you further.0 -
For an almost complete list of all Egyptian channels broadcast FTA (without subscription) on all satellites visible in the UK see this site - http://www.flysat.com/tv-eg.php. Dish sizes required for different satellites will vary from Sky minidish up to 2.4 metre and above depending on the location in the UK. You have the choice of a fixed dish (with up to 2 or 3 lnbs) to receive from up to 3 satellites or a motorised dish which would receive most of those satellites (depending on dish size fitted). You will need an experienced installer rather than a basic "Sky/freesat" installer.0

Wow thanks for the information! I had no idea that a satellite could be bought and used to view free channels in such a way. I will check with a relative whether my father would like any of those channels.
I am finding it hard to make sense of the table properly, such as the headings before some of the channel names.
Are those the names of the satellites, and so the following channels will show what they can deliver?
So © Arabsat-5C @ 20° East will just get one channel for example.
Thanks.0 -

Yes that's right, the yellow headings are the satellites and the blue rows are the channels. For the example you gave, that satellite does only have one Egyptian channel by the looks of it. If you click the link in the right-hand column under "Foot prints" it will show you what areas are covered by the satellites and an indication of what size dish you might be looking at. Most of them require massive dishes for reception from the UK, though, which might need planning permission, so don't get his hopes up too high!0 -
For European Hot Bird Satellite reception I would at least consider an 80cm dish antenna;a 60cm dish would be too small and a minidish would collapse and possibly not work for this.0
