Electricity while camping

The site we always go to in Cornwall you can either go in a field with electrical hook up or without, to have electric it is an extra £3.50 per night as we always go for a fortnight we opt for non electric which suits us fine we charge up phones in the toilet blocks, use hair dryers, straightners the whole works by the end of the fortnight everyone gets to know everyone pretty well, we take a large bucket which we fill with cold water daily for beers and wine and buy ice blocks for our coolbox. the whole family loves it this year all my family are going each in their own tents my DD14 doesnt miss TV or the PC which at home she is doing either one or the other we tend to have the old fashioned camping holdiday cricket and rounders on the beach, barbies everynight that is what suits us but on the otherhand there is nothing wrong with taking your electric bits if you have electrical hook up everyone is different!Frugal challenge 2025

Sometimes we take electric hookup, sometimes not. If we are away early/late in the season I like it as it is handy for heating and lighting. I have a combicool 3 way fridge which runs off electric, gas or 12v. This is handy as we go places where there are no icepack facilities. I am a regular on www.touring-camping.co.uk where there are other campers that might give you more info. The best bargains are priceless!!!!!!!!!! :T :T :T0

how do you get on with the gazebo ? does the site charge you for having this ?
I've been thinking of adding one of these to my camping gear (and a bigger car to carry it all :rotfl: )but not sure if it's just going to be an extra expense or something that'll prove invaluable
On Wednesdays I go shopping , And have buttered scones for tea
He cuts down trees... He's a lumberjack...
they are fab, most places take them for a few extra quid a night, they are great for cooking under when it's raining, keeping out of the sun (if it ever gets sunny) and if it's raining and yoru tent is leaking, pop the gazibo over the tent
