Halifax Mortgage 'decision in principle' credit check

The missed payments were at a previous address (only 2 addresses in last 15 years). So does this mean it won't have been picked up yet? Has anyone else had a similar situation and bee accepted/declined? Looking to see what chance I have.
If the application is declined when full application is submitted, is there chance of appeal? Is this not looked at as a small blip/snapshot in time. Since then everything has been A-OK. Maybe I'm overly paranoid, but this is one of the biggest parts of our lives.
It's okay, I was like you back in May asking all sorts of questions hoping for some reassurance!
We got our mortgage with Halifax in July, the DIP was done in March/April and I was also worried about one missed payment on my credit file + 1 5 year old settled CCJ for £165 + some PDL entries as recent as 3 months old. But in the end we got through and they also wanted just 1 payslip and nothing else.
I think you'll be just fine!
Good luck!0 -
Thanks Abu-Dina, congrats on getting yours accepted, im still going to be paraniod about not getting accepted until i either do/dont.
To make things worse i cant submit full application as the builder doesn't have an estimated move-in date. So if I were to apply just now, the loan offer - if accepted - could run out (if im right in saying it would be valid for 6 months).0 -

Any news on your application?
Mine went in yesterday but my broker said that the Halifax are keying in the application manually, their end, due to the system fault, this will take around 4 working days.
Interested to see if you had the same issue?0 -

i am quite anxious about getting a mortgage.i have saved up my deposit, offered been accepted by vendor, received my AIP and was done with initial credit check. the mortgage advisor at halifax told me that everything is ok here is your Mortgage promise and i should look for a property now. after i got accepted for my offer on the property i just read a few posts about credit check and rating and got intrigued to check my own history.interestingly my credit rating is in ruin i checked on noddle and equifax and found out my score 380 and 570.there has been 3 late payments on a credit card two years ago which was small amount because i did not really understand very well to use so i cancelled it later on.
i spoke to the same mortgage advisor about my fair credit history and asked her views. she said every thing is fine. your earning is good and there has been no problem.
could someone please help me with deciding if i should go ahead or not as after reading on internet i found there are 2nd credit searches as well.
thanks in advance

I had a letter yesterday asking for 3 months payslips (3 because I work for a family business, otherwise it would just be 1), Proof of Identity, and Proof of Deposit.
I am not sure if this is a good sign that I have passed all their checks, subject to providing paperwork. Or they will wait until they have all the paperwork before underwriting. Maybe someone can shed some light to the process?0 -
Id etc seems like they still looking at, could go either wayDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Sounds to me they now want to prove you are who you say you are and that you earn what you said you earned when doing the DIP.
Doubt they wouldn't waste their time asking for ID, payslips etc if you failed the credit check.0
