Can't get through to orange to cancel contract

Ive spent all day today trying to ring Orange....sometimes leaving the phone ringing for 30mins at times to get through to the upgrade/cancel department

My contract ends in one months time and a few weeks ago I was told to ring today but the w***ers won't answer, they must know!

Where would I stand? Ive spent a whole day trying to get through to them and nothing also the website is rubbish

losing the will to live, scum bags, bet if I chose a option to buy a phone they'd pick up in 2 mins :mad:

I think the cancellation department is busy because they are currenty loosing customers at a huge rate.

What's worse, in the T&C they say:
You can only give Us notice to terminate this Agreement ... by calling customer services.
I'd submit a short complaint to Ofcom.
  • grumbler: Will Ofcom do anything unless they get many complaints? They tend not to act on a small number, and they don't always work for the consumer.

If it's a general complaint, then AFAIK they do work for consumers.
    The general complaint is:
    (1) luck of communication channels,
    (2) the only channel available is extremely overloaded,
    (3) unfair T&C making it very difficult to cancel the contract because of (2).

No the retentions department, i have not tried this before, but if you cannot get through to 1 department, why dont you accidently ring another department, and say sorry got the wrong department and ask them to put you thorugh to the cancelling department.

Will that not speed things up?
  • Their customer services used to be very good when it was all based in UK.
However the race to the bottom to benefit shareholders has meant much of it has been outsourced abroad.
If you stopped paying the bill they'd soon contact you.
People are finally waking up to the fact that contracts are a terrible waste of money. Will be cancelling mine as soon as I can.
  • P.s why not phone the fraud/stolen dept?
