Antivirus #security Pro - virus

Hi, wondering if anyone can help me get rid of the mentioned virus from my laptop. Following the advice given on the Microsoft website, I've saved Windows Defender to a formatted USB stick via my uninfected Desktop and tried to follow the instructions to get my laptop to start up from the USB. unfortunately, no matter what option I select in the Boot order, it won't restart from the USB.
Any ideas what I may be doing wrong? The laptop is a Compaq Presario CQ62

Thanks,

M x

I have come home tonight to find this nasty virus on my desktop. It is not allowing me any access to any programmes.

I am not too computer literate but If I download all the above as per NiftyDigits advice onto my laptop and then put on my USB stick will it be straightforward?

You just need to follow the instructions on the link from the infected pc , so it is easier to read them on you lappy and follow them on your desktop

Should be. Scroll down to Automated Removal Instructions for Antivirus Security Pro using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware: and follow steps 1 - 18. Any questions just ask here.

Am going to leave it until the morning. It has been a long day and I think I should approach with a fresh mind!

Why "try" something that may not work when there is a detailed and proven tutorial?

how do you know it isn't going to work ?
  • That old chestnut "how do you know it won't work" The previous suggestion will more than likely work. Plus the link you posted was to an exe not to a resolution.
