Can iPhone be fixed?

I dropped my iPhone (4s) running for the car in the rain. I realised I had forgotten something, drove back, realised phone was missing, then realised I had dropped it from pocket. The backs shattered with a dent, my guess is I ran over it & it was on a stone, hence the strange dent.

Are apple likely to be able to fix it? It's mine & I rent a sim only deal for it. Will apple offer me a replacement for a discounted price if they can't fix it?

I'm in a sim only contact with O2, it runs out in less than a month, but I wanted to change to to talk talk because of their recent offer for customers. Because it was time limited, Ive already ordered it, I think about 2 weeks ago, so I'm not even sure if I can cancel, as talk talk don't supply iPhones, if it's not fixable :(

Is it likely to be fixable?

You might be able to get a very cheap reconditioned iPhone from Apple, the same ones they use for warranty replacements, for a low price (maybe around a third of the usual price). Whatever you do, get your next iPhone from Apple and stay on SIM-only. It costs more overall to get an iPhone from a network.

Thank you, I contacted apple, £159 if it can't be repaired, for a like for like replacement.

That seems like a good price, considering that an iPhone 4S 8GB currently costs £349, so the full price of a 16GB (which I assume you have) would be more than this if they still sold it.

I think that Apple's rationale is that you have already paid them a premium for your original iPhone which gave them a huge profit, so in view of your misfortune you can have a replacement at a large discount, but still with a modest profit for them above their cost price.

Is it just the back that is damaged? i.e. purely cosmetic?

I smashed the back of my iphone once and bought a replacement on eBay for £4.99, it's really easy to replace yourself.

Great customer service is part and parcel of what you get when you buy Apple :).
