I've looked at Amazon, QXL and a couple of other places with the idea of evading the ebay fees. The only problem is, eBay is the market leader in relation to number of customers and sellers. There just isn't enough traffic on the other sites (in comparison) to be able to make it successfully there. I'm really holding out for the time when I have enough cash built up behind me I can get my website up and running but keep ebay in tow to help increase traffic to my website ect.

I'm an inpatient wee jobby, not fond of this walk before you can run malarkey :p

how about craft or jewellery fairs? or local shows where you could hire a stall? How about making some posters to advertise locally, are there any local stores craft shops and the like that would stock your jewellery for you?
I know near us we have wroxham barns which actively promotes the goods of local tradesmen, do you have anything like that near you? You are doing so well i just feel bad for you having to pay those extortionate fees to!!!
debt @05/11/11 £12210.63!! slowly chipping away!!

There are lots of craft fairs in and around Glasgow, but i'm a reseller, I didn't craft the items I sell so I'm not able to sell with them. It doesn't bother me though, the craft folks totally deserve their space being kept for them what with all the time and energy they put into making things from scratch.

    Back to business.
Five listings with five watchers ending in the next two and a half hours. I think once all ten remaining auctions are done, I'll post the wee graph I have in the ebay shop management page. It tracks sales over the past 24hrs, week, and month. Certainly a good way of keeping your eye on the ball when it comes to exactly how much you're turning over each month.

    Hmm, cuppa time, yesh :)

Hahaha! Thanks alot fellow scots lass :) If anything, it's incentive for folks to dig out their old footwear which would otherwise be thrown in the bin, and flog them on ebay! Welcome to MSE and DFW! x

Aargh!! If it's not one thing, it really is another!

Right, my mum is !!!!!!ing off to Arizona on the 11th to meet her potential new hubby (it's a very long and stressing story), HOWEVER, she doesn't want to go with just £250 which she has already. So she has given me her old engagement ring step-bloke gave her and asked me to pawn/ebay it for as much as possible. Ideally she wants £500.

Now, I'm thinking that if I get £500 for her ring on ebay, on a five day auction starting Wednesday (if I can get my photographer mate to take pictures asap), auction should end on Monday and a cheque be in the post. Funds won't clear from that untill the following monday at earliest. F*CK!!

Ehm, AARGH! If I can flog all of my stuff before then, pretty much taking any offer I'm given, I'll be able to give her the money I've made, then once the ring sells, put the difference in her bank whilst she's gone.

    My head is nipping :(

Cheers hon. She still has the original valuation that came with it, putting it in the £2,000 pice range. I figure being able to achieve 25% of the original cost should be do-able. It's a 18ct gold 2ct baguette cluster ring. Generally the rule of thumb goes, the greater the ct of gold and diamond ct value, the higher the price.

Oh man. I could TOTALLY do with a drink. *stress*

I know you are trying to help your mum and probably want to but can she not sell it herself? Or pawn it herself? If you give her your money then the ring might not sell will you be able to manage? I'm just wondering why you feel this is so much your responsbility? Although having said that I know where you are coming from because I take on alot of responsibilites that are not mine and people seem to just expect it of me now although they are grateful if that makes any sense..... Anyway good luck whatever you decide.
