Free Slingbox on X-Series Gold on 3

This doesn't seem to be well advertised so here goes...
If you're already on X-Series Gold and don't have a Slingbox, I believe you can go into the store and get one for zilch.
If you're an X-Series Silver customer (like I was) and upgrade to Gold (you can do so at anytime AFAIK) you are definately eligible for a free Slingbox.
If you're on 3 but not on X-Series (but have a N73 or similar) you'll get a free Slingbox when you get Gold.
You'll probably get the run-around from 333 and your local Three store, I know I did! But, persevere and it'll pay off. The best bet is going to the store and not dealing with 333 at all (the store can do it for you!)
FWIW the cheapest you'll likely get a Slingbox for (especially on the Hight St) is around £120 anyway. X-Series Gold on a minimum of 12 months is £120.
Thanks to the guys at the 3G Forum for the headsup.

Thanks for the advice. I just signed up for silver the other day and it's brilliant. Like you, I was working out that if I were to continue on silver for the next 12 months, it would cost me £60. If that's the case, I might as well upgrade to gold for another £60 pounds and get a Slingbox for free. I then also save £5 month from buying the TV add-on, and have more channels too !0

great deal, seeing as they were asking £99 for these before, makes gold series that little bit more tempting! (though would need a sky box! or can they be used with virgin media?)SLC: £13000+
Quidco: £131.24 (paid) + £0 (validated) = £131.24
Valued Opinions: £75 (paid) + £52.30 (received) + £4.50 (pending) = £131.80
StudentPanel: £250 -
I'm on X-Series silver. What's the minimum term if I upgrade to Gold (and want a free slingbox).
I'm guessing it's 12 months?What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0 -
Hi Planetf1, I think that the minimum for gold is 12 months if you are to get a free slingbox. It still works out cheaper than buying one outright, and you also get free internet access for a year.0

what is a slingbox?

z4kir, AFAIK these should work with Virgin Media. They'll work with video coming out of any set-top-box (if it's normal standard definition.) The only problem is it might not be able to control some cable boxes, IIRC some (former) Telewest and/or NTL boxes use a non-standard form of infra-red remote control. I'm not entirely sure if the Slingbox can control those ones.
planetf1, yes - it's 12 months. Like Scrooge2 says, it works out cheaper than buying a Slingbox on it's own. You could even sell the Slingbox and have free internet on your phone for a year and have some money left over!
cindyhove, a Slingbox plugs into your TV source (Sky digibox, cable box, Freeview etc) or CCTV camera or DVD player and sends it to wherever you are in the world. You can then watch and control it via a PC or mobile phone. With Three, you can watch what's on in your house in other countries that have Three networks (so the likes of Italy, Hong Kong and Australia!) and it won't cost any extra for roaming!0 -

whats the best handset in your opinions to use for watching TV etc on using this slingbox?0

I'm using a Nokia N73 as that was the only X-Series phone available at the time I renewed my contract. I think I'd have chosen it anyway as the N95 wasn't out at the time (I still don't think Three do it anyway.)
All the X-Series features have been designed for the N73. The Slingplayer app works on other Nseries phones but if the resolution/screen size is different it might not look/act completely right.0
